CALGARY -- The Calgary Stampeders have boosted their offensive line after signing Dimitri Tsoumpas to a long-term contract extension.
The 24-year-old Edmonton native rejoins the Stamps after being cut by the NFL's Miami Dolphins on Thursday.
Tsoumpas was a West Division all-star in 2009 after starting all 18 regular-season games for Calgary. He also appeared in the team's two playoff contests.
"During his previous two seasons with the club, Dimitri proved to be one of the best young offensive lineman in the CFL," Stampeders coach John Hufnagel said in a release Tuesday. "We're happy to have him back and thrilled that he wants to make a long-term commitment to the Stampeders."
Tsoumpas was the team's top rookie in 2008 after starting in all 18 regular-season games as well as the West final and the Grey Cup.
"I'm excited to be back in Calgary," said Tsoumpas. "The NFL was something I had to try and I have no regrets about my time down there."
