BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Matthew Perry may be producing and starring in a new TV series about a guy who runs an arena, but he was pretty sheepish about relaying his own first arena experience.
Was it a sports event? A concert? A circus? Was it in Ottawa, where Perry grew up?
"It was in Ottawa, and it was a concert, and I don't want to tell you who was playing," said Perry, 40.
We prodded. Come on, Matthew, you have to tell us now. Finally, he came clean.
"It was Culture Club," Perry said. "That was my first concert.
"Please, if you print that, also say that I'm not proud."
Perry's new series is called Mr. Sunshine, and it's slated to air on ABC and CTV early next year. Perry, who became famous as Chandler Bing on Friends, plays a self-involved manager of a San Diego sports arena called the Sunshine Center.
Mr. Sunshine also features Allison Janney (The West Wing) and Andrea Anders (Better Off Ted).
