MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes have confirmed general manager Jim Popp's contract extension.
The CFL club says Popp has re-signed through the 2014 season. The announcement has been expected for several weeks.
His current deal was set to expire at the end of this season. Uncertainty over his future had prompted Popp to put his Montreal-area house up for sale and move his family back to his native North Carolina in the off-season.
Owner Robert Wetenhall says he's happy he can continue counting on Popp to be "the architect of our football operations."
Popp is the only GM the Alouettes have had since returning to league since 1996 after a 10-year absence.
He has led the team to seven Grey Cup appearances and two championships since 2000.
