We've got a franchise of McDonalds here in upstate NY that has some 24 hour stores.  Obviously the slowest day part for sales is overnight, so this company accepts only cash in the middle of the night.  They probably think its saving them money somehow.  As someone (like very many nowadays) who don't carry cash, least of all in the middle of the night when I get out of work, it seems to me they are alienating most of their potential customers... but what do I know.

The packaging costs more than the DVD so it could've been in more formats without increasing costs.

I'm for all inclusion.  I mean if they could do a disc with SACD on one side and DVD-A on the other with a data layer with Flacs and a Bluray bonus disc... we'd all be in heaven, but you would pay closer to $100 a set. I assume they are marketing to a more general audience as opposed to just audiophiles.  Its unfortunate, but its the way it is.  Its about money.  What can they do with pretty good quality for the least money so it can be sustainably profitable and open to the largest possible audience...

Because no one actually has DVD-A players... (yeah some of us do, but some of us still have laserdisc too...)  What other real option is there in a format that can be open to everyone?  Bluray or a Data layer with flac files.
