The Edmonton Oilers have signed free agent left winger Alexandre Giroux to a one-way contract worth $500,000.
The high-scoring forward counted 103 points in 69 games last season with the Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears, and will get a good look by the Oilers at training camp for a spot on Edmonton's NHL roster.
The 29-year old also scored one goal and two assists in nine games with the Washington Capitals last season.
The 6'3", 190 lb native of Quebec City was originally drafted in the seventh round of the 1999 draft by the Ottawa Senators.
