While many will be heading to the cottages this long weekend, many others would be wise to head to the ninth annual TD IRIE Music Festival taking place around downtown Toronto this weekend.
An impressive lineup of artists ranging from reggae to jazz will be performing from Friday to Monday (July 30 to Aug. 2) at three locations: Nathan Phillips Square, Dundas Square and Queen's Park. Performers include Shurwayne Winchester, Amoy Levy, Humble, Fab 5, Richilous, Toronto singer Miss Maya, Jaxx, Gyptian and Tiki Mercury-Clarke, among many others. Admission is free for all events.
Other portions of the four-day "cultural extravangza" include a Kids Zone on Sunday at Queen's Park, an IRIE Taste of the Tropics, and a celebrity interview with author/musician Dan Hill on Sunday at Nathan Phillips Square.
For more information, updates and scheduling, please visit the festival's site at iriemusicfestival.com.
