The Calgary Flames have signed Group-6 unrestricted free agent forward Ryan Stone to a one-year, $500,000 over $105,000 (AHL) contract.
Stone, a former Edmonton Oiler, had arthroscopic knee surgery on October 22, 2009 and missed more than half the season. In 27 games, he posted six assists and 48 penalty minutes with a plus- 2 rating.
Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round (32nd overall) in 2003, Stone was traded to the Oilers, along with Dany Sabourin and a 2011 fourth-round draft pick, on January 17, 2009 for goaltender Mathieu Garon.
