Ottawa city council has approved plans for a new stadium to be built for the return of a CFL franchise.
Council members met Monday night and voted 15-9 in favour of moving forward with the plan by Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group to build at Lansdowne Park.
The hope is CFL football will return to the nation's capital for the 2013 season.
The league has been without a team since 2006, when the Renegades folded after four seasons.
