The Montreal Canadiens announced Monday that the club has signed winger Tom Pyatt to a one-year contract. It's a one-way deal that will pay him $500,000 next season.
Pyatt was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
The Thunder Bay, ON native was part of the blockbuster deal with the New York Rangers that brought Scott Gomez to the Canadiens last summer in return for Christopher Higgins, Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko.
Pyatt, 23, played 40 games for the Canadiens, picking up five points.
