The Montreal Canadiens have signed assistant coach Kirk Muller to a two-year contract extension.
Muller was an assistant coach with the team from 2006-11 before leaving for the Nashville Predators organization. The Carolina Hurricanes hired Muller early in the 2011-12 season to take over head coaching duties for Paul Maurice.
He rejoined the Canadiens in 2016.
The Kingston, Ont., native spent four years with Montreal as a player as part of a 1,521-game NHL playing career that included scoring the Stanley Cup-winning goal for the Canadiens in 1993.
