The comeback story of Chad Kackert has come to an end with his release by the Toronto Argonauts on Wednesday.
Kackert returned to the Argonauts last season, almost two years after suffering a broken ankle in the 2013 Eastern Final.
He finished the season with 235 yards rushing on 39 carries and 10 catches for 76 yards over seven games.
The Argonauts also released veteran quarterback Adrian McPherson, who has played under head coach Scott Milanovich in Montreal and Toronto during his career.
Quarterback Mitchell Gale, who suited up for nine games with Toronto last season before being released, remains in camp as a possible backup to Ricky Ray, who is returning from shoulder surgery.
