{allcanada} Rogen romance true love

LOS ANGELES - Love might mean never having to say you're sorry, but for Seth Rogen, love means "marrying the girl who loved you when you were a fat nobody."

Five years ago, Rogen was a 23-year-old schlumpy guy trying to break into movies playing the schlumpy guy.

Around the time he got a breakout role (playing a schulmpy loser) in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, the Vancouver funny man was introduced to a writer, a woman named Lauren Miller, also 23 like Rogen, who had moved here from Boston to make it in films.

To Rogen, asking the dark-haired beauty with the luscious mouth that opened often to reveal a blindingly kind smile, was a long shot. But he took it anyway and they began dating.

Rogen said at the time, he could hardly believe his luck in nabbing the sought-after Miller. "I have a girlfriend far prettier than I should have," he admitted in a 2007 interview with USA Today.

At a March 26th fundraiser for The Alzheimer's Association California Southland Chapter, Rogen was there, supporting the organization because he said Miller's mother suffers from the disease.

During dinner, Rogen quipped to a guest, "Lauren loved me even when I was a fat nobody." The guest said Rogen mentioned this because during the event, a line of cute girls and aspiring actress tried to talk and flirt with Rogen, who by now had not only lost about 40 pounds as he was buffing up for his role in The Green Lantern, but had become one of Hollywood's most sought after leading men and film producers.

"You always marry the girl who loved you when you were a fat nobody," Rogen was heard saying out loud to the table.

Said the guest: "He said it like a joke, but I guess it wasn't. I think when he was looking around, seeing Lauren compared to the other women, maybe it really was then he decided to pop the question.

"I mean, if you're looking for a real marriage based on love, this is it.

"When you see them together, there's this weird cloud of happiness that envelopes them. You don't see that often around here, especially in couples who've been living together for so long."

According to Life & Style, Rogen popped the question a few weeks back after visiting Miller's family -- including her sick mother -- back in Boston.

"He surprised her with the proposal," a friend of Rogen's told the magazine, adding that Miller, "started giving up hope that he would ever pop the question."

Apparently Miller's family loves Rogen, especially when he makes Miller's mom laugh.

The story of Rogen and Miller, now both 28-year-old, is an unusual tale in Hollywood.

The more common scenario is schlumpy guy makes it, trades in the first girlfriend for a more glamourous one to prove to himself he is no longer a schlumpy guy. But Rogen is clearly no ordinary man and it is seems he has found an extraordinary partner.
