{allcanada} QMJHL: VICTORIAVILLE DOUBLES MAINEIACS

Philip-Michael Devos' small output was just enough to make him the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's top scorer.

Devos had two assists as the Victoriaville Tigres beat the Lewiston Maineiacs 4-2 in QMJHL play Sunday afternoon.

Although Yanni Gourde's two goals led Victoriaville to victory, it was Devos' assists that were the focus of the game, as it put him at the top of the league's scoring race.

Devos has been chasing Jonathan Audy-Marchessault of the Quebec Remparts all season.

The two helpers were enough to push Devos to the top with 23 points, one more than the idle Audy-Marchessault.

Significantly, top ranked prospect Sean Couturier of the Drummondville Voltigeurs has hardly figured into the QMJHL's scoring race, sitting at 12th with 14 points.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was Saint John 5 Montreal 2, Moncton 5 Halifax 1, Victoriaville 4 Lewiston 2, Drummondville 3 Chicoutimi 1, Gatineau 4 Baie-Comeau 3 and Acadie-Bathurst 4 Shawinigan 2.

At Lewiston, Maine, Phillip Danault and Brandon Hynes also had markers for Victoriaville (5-5-1).

Samuel Henley and Etienne Brodeur replied for the Maineiacs (5-5-2).

Sea Dogs 5 Junior 2

At Saint John, N.B., Jonathan Huberdeau scored twice as the Sea Dogs put away Montreal.

Zack Phillips and Tomas Jurco had power-play goals for Saint John (7-2-1), while Stephen MacAulay added a marker.

Louis Leblanc opened scoring for the Junior (6-2-3) and Francis Meilleur had a single.

------

Wildcats 5 Mooseheads 1

At Halifax, Brandon Gormley tallied and had two assists as Moncton dropped the Mooseheads.

Daniel Pettersson, Marek Hrivik and Simon Jodoin staked the Wildcats (8-3-2) to a 3-0 lead by the midway point of the game. Cedric Leblanc added a marker in the third.

Gerrad Grant was the lone scorer for Halifax (3-8-1).

------

Voltigeurs 3 Sagueneens 1

At Chicoutimi, Que., Ondrej Palat had the eventual winner as Drummondville handled the Sagueneens.

Trent Samuel-Thomas and Julien Tremblay also scored for the Voltigeurs (9-2-2).

Charles Hudon had the only goal for Chicoutimi (4-5-2).

------

Olympiques 4 Drakkar 3

At Gatineau, Que., Nicolas Deslauriers struck twice, including the winner, as the Olympiques edged Baie-Comeau.

Mitchell Porowski and Benjamin Laliberte had the other goals for Gatineau (5-5-2).

Simon Darveau, Raphael Bussieres and Danick Malouin supplied the offence for the Drakkar (1-8-2).

------

Titan 4 Cataractes 2

At Shawinigan, Que., David Gilbert had the eventual winner, on the power play, as Acadie-Bathurst downed the Cataractes.

Sebastien Trudeau and Olivier Hotte also scored for the Titan (9-3-0), while Jonathan Lessard added some insurance with an empty-net goal.

Michael Bournival and Dave Labrecque had markers for Shawinigan (5-5-1).
