EVERETT, Wash. -- Mitchell Callahan had a pair of goals as the Kelowna Rockets overcame a three-goal third-period deficit and defeated the Everett Silvertips 4-3 in a shootout Sunday night in Western Hockey League action.
Callahan scored twice in the third to get the Rockets within one, then Zach Franko added the tying goal with 1:05 remaining in regulation.
Geordie Wudrick and Shane McColgan then scored in the shootout, while Kelowna goaltender Jordan Cooke denied Everett shooters Tyler Maxwell and Landon Ferraro.
Cooke, making his first career WHL start, played an excellent game in goal for the Rockets (2-4-0), making 35 saves to earn the win.
Maxwell scored two short-handed goals to lead Everett (4-1-1). The left-winger has goals in each of Everett's first six games, tying the franchise record for consecutive games with a goal.
Campbell Elynuik also scored and Kent Simpson stopped 20 shots in net for the Silvertips.
