NEW YORK (AP) — Josh Hart had 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points and eight rebounds and the New York Knicks beat the Toronto Raptors 116-94 on Sunday for their fourth straight victory.

Jalen Brunson had 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Mikal Bridges and Miles McBride each scored 14 points. The Knicks improved to 10-1 at home and 13-6 overall. They are perfect since Hart joined the starting lineup last week.

Immanuel Quickley had 19 points and eight assists for Toronto against his former team, and Scottie Barnes added 18 points. The Raptors dropped to 14-7, a night after their nine-game winning streak ended at Charlotte.

The Knicks and Raptors will meet in the NBA Cup Eastern Conference semifinals in Toronto on Dec. 9.

The Knicks nearly blew a 24-point first-half lead to the resilient Raptors, who cut New York's lead to three at 70-67 midway through the third.

But Hart and Bridges keyed a 16-1 run over a 4:20 span to help the Knicks pull away again. Hart had eight points, with two made 3-pointers, and Bridges scored six points on the run and assisted on each of Hart's 3s.

DALLAS (AP) Wyatt Johnston's fourth career hat track included two power-play goals, giving him an NHL-best 12, and Jason Robertson had the winning goal and two assists in his 400th career NHL game as the Dallas Stars beat the Ottawa Senators 6-1 on Sunday night.

Johnston also had an assist to match a season high with four points.

Mavrik Bourque and Jamie Benn also scored for the Stars, who have won four consecutive games and are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games.

Dallas backup goaltender Casey DeSmith is 6-0-2 after making 15 saves. Dallas allowed just 16 shots on goal, which was a season low for both teams.

Robertson's goal came 44 seconds after Jake Sanderson tied the score 1-1. Dallas outscored Ottawa 3-1 in the second period following a scoreless first.

Johnston and Robertson share the team lead with 16 goals each, tied for fourth in the NHL. Robertson has points in 10 of his last 11 games (13 goals, 9 assists) and leads Dallas with 35 points (fifth).

Linus Ullmark stopped 20 shots for the Senators, who are 3-3-0 heading into the finale of a season-long seven-game road trip.

The Stars' 38 points are second most in the NHL but four behind league-leading Colorado in the Central Division.

Dallas' NHL-best power play has scored 29 times in 26 games. Last season, the Stars' 29th power-play goal came in game No. 49 on Jan. 26.

Mikko Rantanen had a season-high three assists.

The Senators went 6-4-3 in November, their first winning mark in the month since 2016-17.

Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel left late in the second period with an apparent injury to his left leg. He went into the boards after getting hung up with Ottawa's Fabian Zetterlund. Coach Glen Gulutzan said after the game that Bichsel will be evaluated on Monday.

Senators: At Montreal on Monday.

Stars: Begin a road back-to-back on Monday against the New York Rangers.

{allcanada} Whitecaps knock off San Diego to reach first MLS Cup in franchise history, will take on Messi and Inter Miami

banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Brian White scored twice in the first half and the Vancouver Whitecaps beat expansion side San Diego FC 3-1 on Saturday night to win the Western Conference for the first time.

Jesper Sørensen's Whitecaps will head to Florida to play Lionel Messi and Inter Miami for the MLS Cup on Dec. 6. Inter Miami won the Eastern Conference with a 5-1 victory over visiting New York City FC earlier Saturday. Both clubs are playing in the final for the first time.

White staked Vancouver to a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute and the Whitecaps took a two-goal lead three minutes later on an own goal by San Diego keeper Pablo Sisniega

Andrés Cubas and Ali Ahmed collected assists on White's first netter this postseason.

Ahmed sent a shot on goal that Sisniega saved, but Manu Duah tried to clear it and instead sent the ball off Sisniega's back and into the net for the 2-0 lead.

White again used assists from Cubas and Ahmed to score two minutes into stoppage time for a three-goal advantage at halftime.

White has five career goals in 12 playoff appearances. Cubas collected his first two postseason assists in his 10th appearance. All three of Ahmed's assists in nine career playoff appearances have come this season.

Hirving "Chucky" Lozano subbed in to begin the second half for San Diego and used an assist from Jeppe Tverskov to score in the 60th minute when his shot deflected over the head of Yohei Takaoka to cut it to 3-1. It was Lozano's first goal in his first MLS postseason. Tverskov earned his second assist in his first postseason.

San Diego was forced to play a man down from the 79th minute on after Sisniega picked up a red card for a foul on Ryan Gauld.

Takaoka finished with three saves in his 10th postseason start in the last three seasons for the Whitecaps. He allowed 12 goals through his first nine.

Pablo Sisniega saved four shots in his third postseason start for San Diego. He had clean sheets in his first two.

Mikey Varas' San Diego squad became the second expansion team to advance to a conference final, joining the 1998 Chicago Fire. Chicago went on to beat two-time defending champion D.C. United 2-0 to win the MLS Cup before 50,000 fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

San Diego beat Vancouver 5-3 on the road and drew 1-1 with the Whitecaps at home during the regular season.

{allcanada} Hornets overcome 17-point deficit to beat Raptors in OT and snap nine-game win streak

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Miles Bridges scored 10 of his 35 points in overtime and the Charlotte Hornets overcame a 17-point first half deficit to beat Toronto 118-111 on Saturday night, ending the Raptors' nine-game winning streak.

Rookie Kon Knueppel had 20 points, including a leaning 3-pointer from the corner to tie the game with 10 seconds left in regulation and a key pass to set up a Bridges dunk in OT to ice the victory for Charlotte, which won on consecutive nights for its first winning streak of the season.

Collin Sexton came off the bench to score 18 points and handled most of the point guard duties after LaMelo Ball went to the bench early in the fourth quarter for what coach Charles Lee said was a "minutes restriction" while playing on back-to-back nights.

Scottie Barnes had 30 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Raptors, whose last loss came on Nov. 8 against Philadelphia. Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley each scored 22 points for Toronto.

Bridges was huge for the Hornets in a game in which the team's other top scorers — Ball and Brandon Miller — struggled and didn't play key minutes in the fourth and overtime. Bridges finished 13 of 23 from the field and carried the team in the overtime period scoring 10 of Charlotte's 14 points.

Toronto built a 26-9 lead in the first half, but Charlotte pulled into a tie with one minute remaining when Sion James scored on an offensive rebound.

In a frantic final few seconds of regulation, Knueppel got the ball in the corner and, with a defender draped over him, hit a leaning 3 to tie the game, causing the Spectrum to erupt in screams.

Toronto initially took the lead in overtime, but then it was all Bridges.

He finished 4 of 4 from the field in the extra period, including a huge 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game.

Brandon Miller, who had 27 points in Charlotte's win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, managed just seven points on 1-of-13 shooting. Ball was 6 of 16 and finished with 14 points. Even as fans screamed at Lee to put Ball back in the game in the fourth quarter, he kept the star on the bench.

{allcanada} Kempe scores in overtime, Forsberg makes 19 saves in Kings' 2-1 win over Canucks

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

LOS ANGELES (AP) Adrian Kempe scored at 3:58 of overtime and set up Los Angeles' regulation goal to help the Los Angeles Kings beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 on Saturday night, extending their points streak to five games.

Quinton Byfield couldn't get his shot off on a 2-on-1 break in the extra session, creating a wild scramble that saw Kevin Lankinen end up face down in his crease, allowing Kempe to shoot into an open net for his eighth goal of the season. The play stood following a review for possible goaltender interference by Byfield.

Anze Kopitar also scored, Anton Forsberg made 19 saves. The Kings are 2-0-3 in their past five games.

Evander Kane scored for Vancouver, and Lankinen made 21 saves. The Canucks have lost five of their past six.

The first period saw three potential goals receive video reviews, with both teams having one waived off following coach's challenges for offsides, before Kopitar finally opened the scoring with 2:41 remaining. He got his fifth goal of the season on a wrist shot from the slot off the rush, with Kempe and Brian Dumoulin picking up the assists.

Kane responded early in the second period, racing out of the penalty box to collect a pass from Drew O'Connor and score his fifth goal of the season on a breakaway. Tyler Myers had the secondary assist on Kane's second goal and third point during a three-game points streak.

The Canucks didn't have forward Conor Garland because of an upper-body injury but did get Lankinen back after he missed the first two games of the trip for personal reasons.

Canucks: At Colorado on Tuesday night.

Kings: Host Washington on Tuesday night.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Nino Niederreiter scored twice and the Winnipeg Jets beat the Nashville Predators 5-2 on Saturday night to end a four-game losing streak.

Gabriel Vilardi, Cole Perfetti and Kyle Connor also scored, and Eric Comrie made 20 saves to stop his three-game skid. Dylan Samberg had three assists, and Luke Schenn added two.

Luke Evangelista had a goal and an assist for Nashville. Nick Blankenburg also scored, and Justus Annunen made 20 saves. The Predators had won two in a row.

Vilardi scored 47 seconds into the game, tapping home the rebound of Mark Scheifele's shot. The Predators allowed a goal in the first minute for the third straight game - also doing it last Saturday against Colorado and Monday against Florida.

Niederreiter made it 2-0 with 53.2 seconds left in the first, snapping a wrist shot by Annunen on the short side off of a pass from Schenn. Niederreiter and Schenn are former Predators.

Perfetti made it 3-0 with 7:42 let in the second. Below the Nashville line, Vladislav Namestnikov found Perfetti alone in the low slot, where he beat Annunen with a one-timer.

Blankenburg scored a power-play goal with 2:58 left in the second.

Evangelista drew Nashville within one at 2:45 of the third when he lifted a backhander from a tough handle over Comrie's shoulder.

Connor's goal at 9:37 of the third restored Winnipeg's two-gaol lead. He has 16 goals and 15 assists in 32 career games against Nashville.

Niederreiter added an empty-netter in the final minute.

PITTSBURGH (AP) Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a goal and an assist, and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-2 on Saturday.

Ekman-Larsson extended his point streak to a career-best nine games, tied for second-longest by a defenseman in team history. He has three goals and seven assists during the streak.

Toronto won in regulation for the first time since Nov. 5. It improved to 3-6-2 in its last 11 games.

Auston Matthews, Nicolas Roy and Bobby McMann also had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs. Morgan Rielly had two assists to become the third defenseman in team history with 100 multipoint games.

Toronto goaltender Dennis Hildeby, making his first start since Nov. 13, stopped 32 shots.

Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby scored his 641st carer goal, passing Dave Andreychuk for 15th on the NHL list. He also had an assist and passed Mario Lemieux for most home points in team history (941) and sole possession of the seventh-most home points in league history.

Ben Kindel added a power-play goal for Pittsburgh, which is 4-5-3 in its last 12 games after an 8-2-2 start.

Arturs Silovs allowed four goals on 10 shots for Pittsburgh before he was replaced by Tristan Jarry in the second period. Silovs, who has been pulled in consecutive starts, has allowed eight goals on the last 20 shots he faced.

Jarry made 10 saves for the Penguins.

Ekman-Larsson and Easton Cowan scored on two of Toronto's first three shots to give the Maple Leafs a 2-1 lead through one period.

McMann and Dakota Joshua scored in the first five minutes of the second period to help Toronto pull away. McMann tipped Rielly's point shot behind Silovs, and Joshua scored on a quick turnaround shot from the top of the crease.

Maple Leafs: Continue a six-game trip Tuesday at Florida.

Penguins: Begin a three-game trip Monday at Philadelphia.

DENVER (AP) Brock Nelson had two goals and two assists to reach 600 points for his career, Gabriel Landeskog also scored twice, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Montreal Canadiens 7-2 on Saturday.

Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and two assists for Colorado to extend his NHL goals lead to 20 and his points lead to 44.

Colorado, which had its 10-game winning streak snapped with a shootout loss at Minnesota on Friday, has a 16-game point streak (13-0-3). The Avalanche have won eight in a row at home and have just one regulation loss in 25 games (18-1-6).

Brent Burns and Devon Toews also had goals for Colorado.

Ivan Demidov and Lane Hutson scored for Montreal, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Nelson got his milestone point when he beat Jakub Dobes with a wrister 7:32 into the game. He assisted on Landeskog's first goal and Burns' goal 50 seconds into the second before making it 4-0 at 3:55 of the second period.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 21 saves but fell short of his bid for a third consecutive shutout when Demidov scored at 8:27 of the second period. That ended a shutout streak of 174 minutes, 31 seconds.

Blackwood made several great saves early, including one with his left pad to deny Josh Anderson midway through the first period.

Dobes stopped 29 shots.

Nelson was initially awarded Colorado's second goal but it was later given to Landeskog, who was upended by Anderson as they battled in the crease.

The Canadiens challenged for goaltender interference but it was ruled that Anderson's actions caused the interference.

Colorado donned blue Quebec jerseys to commemorate the Nordiques' Adams Division rivalry with Montreal. The Avalanche are celebrating their 30th season since relocating from Quebec to Denver.

Canadiens: Host Ottawa on Tuesday night.

Avalanche: Host Vancouver on Tuesday night.

{allcanada} McDavid and Draisaitl score as the Oilers beat the Kraken 4-0

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

SEATTLE (AP) Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman each had a goal and an assist, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.

The Oilers bounced back nicely after losing 8-3 to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday in Edmonton.

Stuart Skinner made 26 saves in his second shutout of the season.

Joey Daccord stopped 21 shots for the Kraken, including eight in the first four minutes of the game. Seattle has lost three straight, two by shutout.

Nugent-Hopkins put Edmonton in front with a power-play goal with 8:41 left in the first period, tucking a cross-ice pass from Evan Bouchard into an open left side of the net for his sixth of the year.

Draisaitl scored with 7:30 remaining in the second on a shot from the high slot. It was his 15th of the season and extended his points streak to eight games.

Then, with the Oilers on a power play, Draisaitl sent a pass from the right circle that bounced off the back of Hyman's stick at the top of the crease. The puck slid past Daccord with 1:09 left before Hyman could turn around and watch his first goal of the year go in.

McDavid added his 11th goal at 6:25 of the third.

The Kraken went 0 for 6 on the power play. That included a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:45 late in the first period with Brett Kulak in the box for high-sticking and McDavid serving a bench minor for too many men on the ice.

Edmonton converted both of its power-play opportunities.

Oilers: Begin a five-game homestand against Minnesota on Tuesday.

Kraken: Visit Edmonton on Thursday.

{allcanada} Canada women outplayed in loss to Japan in friendly

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

NAGASAKI — The slump continues for the Canadian women's soccer team.

Ninth-ranked Canada fell to its fourth straight defeat Saturday, blanked 3-0 by Japan in a women's soccer friendly.

Momoko Tanikawa, Mina Tanaka and Aoba Fujino scored for eighth-ranked Japan, which controlled play at the 20,000-capacity Peace Stadium. Canada was outplayed for much of the game and it was one-way traffic for long stretches.

"We're in a really difficult stage right now. There's no shying away from that," said Canada assistant coach Natalie Henderson, who is running the team with head coach Casey Stoney back in England with her ailing mother. "We certainly aren't a team that likes losing or wants to continue this run. We want to fix things and we're trying to fix things.

"I think there's some positives to take from today. But again we have to make those positives more consistent."

The two teams meet again Tuesday at Transcosmos Stadium Nagasaki in nearby Isahaya in Canada's final outing of the year.

Canada will be looking to turn the tide, coming off consecutive 1-0 losses to No. 24 Switzerland and the 11th-ranked Netherlands last month after a disappointing 3-0 loss to the second-ranked U.S. in July.

It's the Canadian women's longest losing streak since a four-game slide in 2019 that included a round-of-16 loss to Sweden at the World Cup in France.

The Canadians, whose 2025 record stands at 6-5-1, have not scored in 364 minutes since Emma Regan's 86th-minute goal in a 4-1 win over Costa Rica on June 27 in Toronto.

Japan had the better of the first half and Tanikawa put the home side ahead in the 43rd minute, capping a sequence that saw Canada defending desperately with centre back Jade Rose blocking two shots.

Japan kept the ball in play, heading it back into the penalty box for an unmarked Tanikawa to hammer home.

The play started with an errant clearance from Canadian goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.

The Canadian 'keeper was at fault again in the 51st minute, caught on the ball under pressure from Tanaka after taking a back pass in front of the goal. The Utah Royals forward took advantage, dispossessing the 'keeper and knocking the ball into an empty goal from close range.

The Canadian defence was cut open again in the 58th minute, with Tanikawa's pass finding an unmarked Fujino in the box. Her shot went through Sheridan.

The Japanese starting 11 included eight players from clubs in England.

Canada lived dangerously early on, turning the ball over on several occasions. Fujino came close in the eighth minute, curling a shot from distance that bounced off the crossbar.

A Canadian corner in the 30th minute caused some disarray in the Japanese penalty box, but did not produce a shot on goal. Canadian fullback Marie Levasseur's shot hit the side netting in the 38th minute.

Japan outshot Canada 9-2 (3-0 in shots on target) in a first half that saw Vancouver Rise forward Holly Ward, earning her sixth cap, the most effective Canadian. And the Japanese kept coming in the second half.

There were five changes to the Canadian starting lineup that faced the Swiss on Oct. 28, with Sheridan, Levasseur, midfielder Simi Awujo and forwards Nichelle Prince and Ward slotting in.

Canada's starting 11, which included two Northern Super League players in Ward and AFC Toronto's Regan, went into the match with a combined 702 caps. Captain Jessie Fleming, one of four centurions in the side, earned her 150th cap.

Jordyn Huitema, Julia Grosso, Evelyne Viens, Sydney Collins, Florianne Jourde and Vanessa Gilles, in her first appearance since the July loss to the U.S., came on for Canada in the second half.

Canada fell to 4-9-4 all-time against Japan. The Canadians have not beaten Japan since March 2018, when they prevailed 2-0 at the Algarve Cup and have won just one of the last eight meetings (1-6-1).

Canada was without star forward Olivia Smith, at her English club's request. Arsenal did not want Smith, who suffered a hip injury playing for Canada last month, to make the long trip to Japan.

Her absence led to a first senior call-up for D.B. Pridham, the NSL's player of the year. But the Ottawa Rapid star, born in California to Canadian parents, is ineligible to take part in the Japan games because she couldn't get her Canadian passport in time.

"The situation will be resolved upon D.B.'s return to Canada at the conclusion of this window," Canada Soccer said in a social media post.

A dual citizen, Pridham travelled on her U.S. passport.

Canada was missing the injured Kadeisha Buchanan, Gabby Carle  and  Lysianne Proulx. Utah Royals forward Cloe Lacasse, while back from a knee injury suffered in October 2024, is not expected to be rejoin Canada until next year.

Annabelle Chukwu  (Notre Dame) and  Kayla Briggs (Michigan State University) were unavailable for selection by mutual agreement with their colleges.

William Nylander (illness) is questionable to play at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; SN-PIT, NHLN, SNP, SNO, SNE, CITY, TVAS, CBC) after the forward missed a 4-2 loss at the Washington Capitals on Friday. Nylander did not practice Thursday for maintenance, but Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube said he was not ill at that time. "'Willie,' he wants to play, there's no doubt about it," Berube said. "So, if it can get through him here quick enough, we'll see how he is [Saturday]. Hopefully, he's available."

{allcanada} Oilers get Nugent-Hopkins back Saturday against Kraken

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

The Edmonton Oilers will be getting some reinforcements Saturday afternoon when they take on the Seattle Kraken.

Forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will make his return to the lineup after missing the past three weeks with an undisclosed injury. He last played on Nov. 9 against the Colorado Avalanche.

The 32-year-old centred the third line between Mattias Janmark and Adam Henrique at Friday's practice and was activated from the injured reserve list Saturday.

"He does a lot of things," Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said via the team. "He's a tremendous teammate. We've had players joke that he's my favourite player, but Ryan's a very smart, complementary player who you can rely on in the last minute of a game. He can provide some offence. He is an important part of the power play. He makes it run just by getting the puck in the right spots. He reads off what Connor and Leon are going to do, and he adjusts what position he needs to be in and what play is going to be made.

"I can go on about Ryan and how valuable he is, and we have missed him through this stretch of not having him, so it'll be nice having him back because he can play in the top six on the wing, or he can be our third line center. He can be our second-line center if we want to play Connor [McDavid] and Leon [Draisaitl] together, so I can utilize him in many ways and he's very valuable."

The Oilers will also get forward Curtis Lazar back Saturday in Seattle. He has been out since Nov. 17 with an upper-body injury. Forwards Jack Roslovic and Kasperi Kapanen will miss Saturday's game.

Nugent-Hopkins has five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 16 games so far this season, while Lazar has one goal in nine games.

The Oilers (10-10-5) enter play Saturday sixth in the Pacfic Division with 25 points in 25 games played.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Seth Jarvis scored three goals and the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-1 on Friday in a matchup that featured a pair of rookie goalies.

Jarvis, a Winnipeg native, clinched the hat trick on an empty-net goal with 1:03 to play - one of four Carolina goals in the final 8 1/2 minutes.

Jordan Martinook broke a third-period tie with his first goal of November before Jarvis' second tally of the game came just 47 seconds later. Shayne Gostisbehere and Andrei Svechnikov each provided two assists. Alexander Nikishin completed the scoring.

Brandon Bussi made 12 saves for Carolina, which won for the first time in three games. He improved his record to 6-1.

Mark Scheifele scored his team-best 13th goal for the Jets, who have lost a season-worst four consecutive games. Winnipeg goalie Thomas Milic stopped 30 shots in his NHL debut.

Jarvis leads the Hurricanes with 15 goals.

The game was tied 1-1 after two periods but Carolina went ahead on Martinook's goal with 8:08 left, set up by a pass from Mark Jankowski.

Milic stopped the first 10 shots he faced before Jarvis scored his first, converting off Shayne Gostisbehere's pass with 3:54 left in the first period.

The Jets pulled even with 9:19 remaining in the second period, taking Carolina's offensive zone turnover the other way for Scheifele's goal. Milic stopped all 10 shots he faced in the second period.

Winnipeg has lost six of its last eight road games.

Jets: Saturday hight at Nashville.

Hurricanes: Sunday home vs. Calgary.

WASHINGTON (AP) Jakob Chychrun scored his 10th goal on a one-timer with 3:56 left, and the Washington Capitals rallied from two goals down to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 on Friday.

Chychrun extended his points streak to 10 games. It was the NHL-best 22nd goal scored by a Washington defenseman. Tom Wilson later added Washington's 23rd - and his 13th this season - on an empty-netter.

The Capitals closed out a 3-1-0 homestand.

Anthony Beauvillier tied it at 2 on a one-timer of Alex Ovechkin's feed with 6:44 left. Connor McMichael picked up an assist on Chychrun's game-winner after he started Washington's rally when he converted a second-chance opportunity late in the second period.

Morgan Rielly and Matthew Knies scored for the Maple Leafs, who dropped to 2-7-0 on the road while coming up empty in a bid for their first back-to-back away wins of the season.

Auston Matthews recorded his 742nd career point on Knies' second-period goal, snapping a tie for fifth on the franchise list. Oliver Ekman-Larsson extended his points streak to eight games with an assist on Rielly's opener.

Washington's Logan Thompson made 19 saves, and Toronto's Joseph Woll stopped 30 shots.

Dylan Strome contributed his 16th assist on Beauvillier's tying goal. He also had an apparent goal after only 21 seconds disallowed when referees said they had blown the play dead before he poked a loose puck across the line.

Maple Leafs: Continue their six-game trip Saturday at Pittsburgh.

Capitals: Begin a four-game road trip Sunday at the New York Islanders.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Will Smith and William Eklund each scored a power-play goal, helping the San Jose Sharks top the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Friday.

Adam Gaudette also scored as San Jose won for the fourth time in six games. Macklin Celebrini had two assists, and Yaroslav Askarov stopped 32 shots.

Vancouver dropped to 1-1-0 on a challenging four-game trip. Brock Boeser and Elias Petterson scored for the Canucks, and Nikita Tolopilo made 21 saves in his second start this season and fourth of his career.

Vancouver had a late 6-on-4 opportunity after pulling Tolopilo with Celebrini in the penalty box. But San Jose held on.

The Canucks grabbed an early lead when Boeser scored his ninth goal of the season on the team's second shot 4:28 into the first.

The Sharks responded with Smith's power-play goal at 9:25. Celebrini dumped the puck to Alexander Wennberg on the right side of the net, and Wennberg dished it to Smith on the other side.

Elias Petterson put Vancouver ahead 2-1 in the second with his eighth goal. Petterson's shot appeared to deflect off Askarov's right skate before going in.

The Sharks had a 5-on-3 advantage later in the period and tied it on Eklund's sixth goal.

San Jose made it 3-2 moments later when Philipp Kurashev passed to Gaudette behind the net, and Gaudette quickly slipped it past Tolopilo. The officials didn't initially signal a score, but replay confirmed the goal.

Canucks: Face the Kings in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Sharks: At Vegas on Saturday.

{allcanada} Matthew Kessel scores to help Blues beat Senators 4-3

ST. LOUIS (AP) Matthew Kessel and Pavel Buchnevich each scored in the third period to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 on Friday.

Jordan Kyrou and Oskar Sundqvist also scored, and Jordan Binnington made 25 saves for St. Louis, which won for the third time in its last 10 games.

David Perron, Fabian Zetterlund and Shane Pinto scored, and Leevi Merilainen made 27 saves for Ottawa, which has gone 3-2 over the first five games of a seven-game road trip.

Kessel swatted in a rebound for his second goal of the season to take a 4-3 lead just 1 minute, 48 seconds after Perron scored his third goal of the season 7:31 into the third period to tie the game at 3-all.

Buchnevich one-timed a feed from Brayden Schenn for his third goal of the season 5:33 into the third period to give St. Louis a 3-2 lead. Buchnevich's first even-strength goal of the season snapped a 16-game scoring drought since scoring his last goal on Oct. 25 at Detroit.

Kyrou backhanded a feed from Jake Neighbours past Merilainen for his team-leading seventh goal of the season 2:01 into the third period to tie the game at 2-2.

Zetterlund scored his ninth goal of the season with 1:33 remaining in the second period to put Ottawa ahead 2-1.

Senators captain Brady Tkachuk assisted on Zetterlund's goal in his return to the lineup after missing 20 games with a thumb injury that required surgery to repair torn ligaments.

Pinto scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season 10:11 into the second period to tie the game at 1-all.

Sundqvist scored his first goal of the season 7:59 into the second period.

Senators: At Dallas Sunday night.

Blues: Host Utah Saturday night.

{allcanada} Canadiens extend winning streak to 3 games with a 4-1 win over the Golden Knights

LAS VEGAS (AP) Cole Caufield had a goal and assist to extend his point streak to six games, and the Montreal Canadiens handed the slumping Vegas Golden Knights a 4-1 loss on Friday.

Zach Bolduc and Juraj Slafkovský also each had a goal and an assist, and Jake Evans also scored for the Canadiens, who have won three straight games. Samuel Montembeault made 30 saves and was within 4:44 of his first shutout since a 4-0 win over Carolina on Feb. 25. That also was the last time Montreal blanked an opponent.

Mark Stone scored the lone Golden Knights goal to help Vegas avoid being shut out for the second time this season. That goal gave Stone at least a point in all eight of his games this season. He was playing in just his second game since returning from a wrist injury. Akira Schmid saved 15 shots.

The Golden Knights suffered their fourth straight regulation or overtime loss, and are 2-4-3 in their most recent nine home games.

Vegas, however, outplayed Montreal in many ways, outshooting the Canadiens 31-19. But the Habs had 12 high-danger chances compared to 10 for the Golden Knights, according to Natural Stat Trick, including a handful of breakaway chances.

The Canadiens earlier Friday signed defenseman Mike Matheson to a five-year, $30-million contract extension that takes him through the 2030-31 season.

Canadiens: Play at Utah on Saturday.

Golden Knights: Host San Jose on Saturday.

{allcanada} Kadri helps Flames beat Panthers 5-3, sending Cup champs to 4th loss in 6 home games

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) Nazem Kadri and Joel Farabee each had a goal and an assist, MacKenzie Weegar scored against his former team, and the Calgary Flames shook off a sleepy start to beat the Florida Panthers 5-3 on Friday.

Yan Kuznetsov got his first NHL goal and Morgan Frost got the goal that put Calgary ahead for good, as the Flames won for the fourth time in five games. Farabee sealed it with an empty-netter with 1:03 left.

Devin Cooley gave up goals on the first two shots he saw, then stopped the next 30 for Calgary.

Evan Rodrigues and Sam Bennett scored in the first 2:58 for Florida, which wasted a 2-0 lead - on home ice, no less - for the second consecutive game, after falling 4-2 to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Brad Marchand scored midway through the third, his 15th of the season for Florida.

Before Wednesday, the Panthers were 9-0-0 this season in games when they led by two or more goals at any point and 9-1-0 when scoring first. Rodrigues scored in the opening minute, Bennett made it 2-0 two minutes later and the Panthers - who have now lost three of their last four games overall and four of their last six at home - seemed to be rolling.

Cooley changed all that in a hurry.

He made 17 saves before the first period was over, and the goals from Kuznetsov and Weegar - second-line defensemen - tied it at 2 going into the second. Calgary had a 5-on-3 power play that extended into the second period and that provided Frost the chance to put the Flames up 3-2 early in that middle frame by sweeping a rebound past Florida's Daniil Tarasov.

Flames: Visit Carolina on Sunday.

Panthers: Host Toronto on Tuesday.

{allcanada} Canadiens sign D Matheson to five-year, $30 million contract extension

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenceman Mike Matheson to a five-year, $30 million contract extension on Friday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $6 million and $20.8 million will be paid out in signing bonuses for the 31-year-old blueliner.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston notes the deal includes a full no-movement clause for the first three seasons before turning into a 14-team no-trade list in the fourth year and a five-team list in the fifth and final year.

Matheson has four goals and 14 points in 22 games this season while averaging 24:50 of ice time.

A first-round pick (23rd overall) by Florida in 2012, Matheson spent four seasons with the Panthers before he was dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins in September of 2020. He was acquired by Montreal in July of 2022 in exchange for Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling.

He is in the final season of an eight-year, $39 million contract with an AAV of $4.88 million and was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Internationally, Matheson has represented Canada twice at the World Championships, winning gold in 2016 and silver in 2017.

The Pointe-Claire, Que., native has appeared in 649 career NHL games, scoring 78 goals with 279 points, split between the Panthers, Penguins and Canadiens.
