CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders signed veteran American linebacker Shaheed Salmon on Tuesday.

Contract details weren't immediately divulged but Salmon's deal reportedly is for one season.

The six-foot-one, 224-pound Salmon spent last season with the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League, registering 17 tackles in eight games. Following the merger of the USFL and the XFL into the United Football League, Salmon was drafted by the Memphis Showboats but was recently waived.

Salmon was previously with the Ottawa Redblacks (2019, 2021-22). He appeared in 35 regular-season games, recording 27 tackles (one for loss), 27 special-team tackles, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception.

Salmon played four seasons at Samford, starting 27-of-44 games. He had 275 tackles, 8.5 sacks and four interceptions and was named first-team all-Southern Conference in both his junior and senior seasons.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Jiri Klima scored two goals in leading the Shawinigan Cataractes to a 3-1 victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Thursday in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action.

Kody Dupuis added the other for Shawinigan (29-34-3-1), which got 37 saves from Mathys Fernandez.

Mathis Cloutier had the lone goal for Blainville-Boisbriand (31-30-4-2). Edouard Gauthier stopped 28 shots.

Cloutier's goal made it a 1-1 game at 10:55 of the second period.

But with 58 seconds left in the middle frame, Klima netted the go-ahead goal. Dupuis scored with 3:13 left in the third period.

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

Paramount+'s international ad-tier plans are coming together.

The streaming service's Basic (with ads) tier will roll out in Canada in April and June in Australia, priced at C$6.99 ($5.15) and A$6.99 ($4.55) per month, respectively.

Addtionally, Paramount+'s premium subscription tier will launch in Europe this month, beginning with France, where it is priced at €10.99 per month.

It is already available in Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico, offering higher quality streams of shows such as Star Trek: Discovery, Tulsa King and A Gentleman in Moscow and access via four devices.

The news is one of the biggest international developments for Paramount Global since it announced it was rolling back its original content plans in most territories, with only its free-to-air networks in Australia, Argentina, Chile and the UK protected.

Marco Nobili, EVP and International General Manager of Paramount+ said: "Our pricing strategy and a market-by-market approach to our offering is key to providing customers choice, flexibility and value. The 'Premium' tier has demonstrated great success in Canada, Australia and Latin America, and I am confident this offering will enable us to reach new subscribers in Europe, as well.

"As we launch 'Basic (with ads)' in our international markets, we can also offer our incredible content at an even more competitive price to ultimately increase our reach and expand our advertising offerings to partners. The 'Basic' tier allows us to continue to lead on value by providing consumers an even more affordable entertainment choice for the entire family."

Yesterday, Paramount promoted Beverley McGarvey to President of Network 10, Head of Streaming and Regional Lead for Australia and New Zealand.

{allcanada} Toronto FC's unbeaten run comes to an end in loss to NYCFC

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

NEW YORK — Kevin O'Toole's first MLS goal lifted New York City FC to a 2-1 win over Toronto FC on Saturday, ending TFC's unbeaten run to start the season at three games.

O'Toole put NYCFC (1-3-0) ahead with a stylish header in the 65th minute off a wonderful cross from the outside of Julian Fernandez's boot, with the Toronto defence slow to respond. It was the first time Toronto had been behind this season.

Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, with his first MLS goal, scored for Toronto (2-1-1), which got another fine performance from stand-in goalkeeper Luka Gavran but managed few chances on the New York goal.

Santi Rodriguez also scored for NYCFC, which had midfielder Keaton Parks sent off in the 68th minute for a nasty challenge on substitute Kobe Franklin that earned a straight red after video review. Toronto upped its attack in an unsuccessful bid to get a tying goal in a game that saw almost 12 minutes of second-half stoppage time.

While Toronto went ahead early, NYCFC came on strong as the first half wore on, tying it at 1-1 and putting the visitors under pressure at Yankee Stadium. The New Yorkers outshot Toronto 9-6 (6-2 in shots on target) in the first half, had six corners to TFC's two and had 68.2 per cent possession.

A fine long ball from Alonso Coello found the 19-year-old Marshall-Rutty steaming toward the penalty box in the seventh minute. Two good touches later, the wingback rounded goalkeeper Matt Freese and poked the ball home. The goal came in Marshall-Rutty's first start this season and 54th career league appearance.

Rodriguez, a young designated player from Uruguay, tied it up in the 24th minute with a spectacular free kick, bending the ball over the wall and into the top corner. Centre back Kevin Long conceded the foul, chopping down Algerian forward Mounsef Bakrar.

It was the first goal conceded by Toronto this season, ending a 293-minute shutout streak.

Toronto was missing injured captain Jonathan Osorio (hip), goalkeeper Sean Johnson (hamstring), defenders Richie Laryea (hamstring), Nicksoen Gomis (wrist) and Raul Petretta (groin), and midfielder Brandon Servania (knee).

There was no immediate word from the Canada camp whether Osorio was still headed to the national team for the arch 23 Copa America qualifying playoff against Trinidad and Tobago.

Long and midfielder Deybi Flores both started despite being listed as questionable while forward Deandre Kerr, who missed the first three games with a calf issue, came off the bench in the dying minutes.

Italian star Lorenzo Insigne captained the team in Osorio's absence with Sigurd Rosted slotting into the backline and Prince Owusu starting up front. There was a first TFC start for former Newcastle midfielder Matty Longstaff, who gave way to Franklin at halftime.

Insigne, who managed just four goals in 20 league appearances last year, had accounted for all of Toronto's offence in its first three games, with two goals — both honoured as the MLS goal of the week.

Insigne tried his luck early Saturday, looking to chip Freese from distance in the third minute. Soon after, fellow Italian Federico Bernardeschi's sliding challenge nipped an NYCFC threat at the other end.

Rodriguez came close for New York in the 18th minute, but he slid his shot just wide after being put behind the defence by Thiago Martins' long ball. Two minutes later, a diving Gavran pushed away a Fernandez shot.

Gavran got a hand to a hard Hannes Wolf shot in the 39th minute. And the Toronto' keeper made a fine leg save to deny Parks in first-half stoppage time.

Gavran stopped Bakrar from close range in the 53rd minute to end another NYCFC flurry.

Tyrese Spicer, the top pick in the 20204 MLS SuperDraft, came on in the 75th minute to make his Toronto debut. And he set fellow substitute Ayo Akinola with a fine curling ball minutes later, only to see the ensuing shot miss the target

New York had stumbled coming out of the gate, with losses at Charlotte FC (1-0) and St Louis City SC (2-0) and, last time out, to visiting Portland (2-1) in a game that saw it concede in the 85th and 97th minute.

Toronto opened with a scoreless draw at FC Cincinnati before winning 1-0 at New England and 1-0 over Charlotte FC in last Saturday's home opener at BMO Field. But its past record at NYCFC was 1-4-5.

Toronto hosts Atlanta United next Saturday, while NYCFC visits FC Cincinnati.

{allcanada} Report: CFL officials will get to see Bonhomme perform at national combine

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

TORONTO — CFL officials will have the chance to get up close and personal with DK Bonhomme.

The South Alabama linebacker has been added to the league's national combine, which will be held next week in Winnipeg. On Friday, Bonhomme's name was on the list of participants released by the CFL.

The six-foot-two, 237-pound Bonhomme was invited to participate in the CFL's regional combine Friday in Waterloo, Ont., but was unable to attend.

Bonhomme began his college career at Indiana, appearing in 24 games over three seasons before transferring to South Alabama. Gifted athletically, Bonhomme has battled injuries throughout his collegiate tenure.

After being limited to just three games with the Jaguars in 2022, Bonhomme was hurt before last season and didn't play in 2023.

{allcanada} Neil Young Ends Spotify Boycott

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

Neil Young is ending his two-year Spotify boycott.

The celebrated singer is returning his music to the audio giant after Joe Rogan signed a $250m deal to make his podcast available on multiple platforms, rather than remaining a Spotify exclusive.

Young withdrew his music from Spotify in January 2022 due to its support for Rogan, and a number of big-name artists including his former bandmates Crosby, Stills and Nash followed suit.

Young's issue with Spotify was that the platform was backing a podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, helmed by someone who was spreading vaccine misinformation.

Young yesterday indicated that his music's return to the platform does not reflect a reversal of his stance against Rogan. He has previously said that Spotify represented 60% of his streaming revenue globally, leading to a "huge loss" for his record company.

"Other music services [including] Apple, Amazon, Qobuz, Tidal… have started serving the same disinformation podcast I had opposed at Spotify," Young wrote on his website.

"Because I cannot leave all those services like I did Spotify, because my music would have no streaming outlet to music lovers at all, I have returned."

Young is a decorated artist who has been making music for six decades with hits including "Harvest Moon", "Heart of Gold" and "Old Man."

{allcanada} Neve Campbell Says She Is Back For New ‘Scream’ Movie; Kevin Williamson Set To Direct

Neve Campbell

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

Neve Campbell said Tuesday that she will return as Sidney Prescott for the next film in the Scream franchise.

In an Instagram post today, Campbell said she's been asked back and is happy to return to the pic, which for now is known only as Untitled Scream 7 and will be directed by original Scream writer Kevin Williamson from a script penned by Guy Busick.

Campbell, an original Scream star, did not appear in last year's sixth movie of the franchise because of a pay dispute. Her most recent appearance in the series was 2022's Scream, which served as a franchise reboot. She had signaled as recently as January that she wouldn't rule out returning to the role for the right price.

"It's always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies," Campbell wrote today. "My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I'm very happy and proud to say I've been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn't be more thrilled!!!"

Campbell added that she had "dreamt for years" of making a Scream movie with Williamson at the helm — his first time directing in the franchise. He takes over from Christopher Landon, who exited the project in late 2023.

"It's been nearly 30 years since my very first script, Scream, was directed by the legendary Wes Craven," Williamson wrote in his own Instagram post today. "I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise."

Busick (Scream 2022 and Scream VI) is taking over screenwriting reins from James Vanderbilt, producer Spyglass Media Group said today. Vanderbilt, who is on location directing Nuremberg, will continue to produce Scream 7 alongside his Project X Entertainment partners William Sherak and Paul Neinstein. Radio Silence is executive producing.

The Scream project has been in the news in recent months after star Melissa Barrera was let go because of comments she made on social media about the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Jenna Ortega later left the project due to scheduling reasons, and Landon soon followed.

Campbell's return will get things in motion, but no date is set for the new film.

On the heels of the 2022 Scream relaunch, Scream VI hit theaters in March 2023 and broke the original's record for the highest domestic box office gross in the franchise ($108.1 million). Its global box office cume is $168.9 million.

Campbell is repped Gersh, Anonymous Content, and Johnson, Shapiro, Slewett & Kole.

Dillon Brooks would welcome more Canadian NBAers on the men's senior basketball team for this summer's Paris Olympics.

Brooks, from Mississauga, Ont., is one of the 14 players who have committed to playing for Canada through this Olympic cycle.

He was instrumental in Canada winning bronze at the FIBA World Cup this past September. Canada won its first-ever men's World Cup medal despite missing several NBA players.

Brooks says that he would welcome players like Jamal Murray, Andrew Nembhard and Andrew Wiggins on the team for the Olympics.

He says what's most important is to win Canada's second-ever men's basketball medal at the Olympics.

Canada earned silver at the 1936 Berlin Games, the first time basketball was an Olympic sport.

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps have acquired Canadian midfielder Ralph Priso from the Colorado Rapids.

In exchange, the Whitecaps sent up to US$150,000 in conditional 2025 general allocation money, the latter of their current two first-round selections, and their natural third-round selection, in the MLS SuperDraft 2025.

The later first-round pick will be either Vancouver or LAFC's natural selection.

Priso started 17 of his 36 appearances and added three assists across all competitions for the Rapids after joining the side via trade from Toronto FC in July 2022.

The 21-year-old made 17 starts in 33 appearances with TFC, and registered two goals and two assists across all competitions after signing a homegrown contract in October 2020.

Priso, from Toronto, was also part of the side that won the 2020 edition of the Canadian Championship.

{allcanada} Ayton has season-high 30 points and Trail Blazers hold off Raptors in OT

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Deandre Ayton returned from a right hand sprain and had a season-high 30 points and 19 rebounds to help the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Toronto Raptors 128-118 in overtime on Saturday night.

Dalano Banton had 25 points and Anfernee Simons added 23 to snap a three-game Portland losing streak. The Blazers (18-45) were playing the second of a back-to-back after a 123-107 loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night.

Immanuel Quickley scored 29 points and Gary Trent Jr. added 23 for the Raptors, who have won just once in the last five games. Toronto (23-41) was coming off a 120 -113 loss at the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

Quickley's layup narrowed it to 111-109 with just over a minute left in regulation before Matisse Thybulle's layup for Portland. Chris Boucher made a pair of free throws for Toronto with 23.1 seconds left.

After a jump ball, Toronto sent up a flurry of shots before Boucher's layup tied it with 0.7 seconds left. Portland inbounded the ball to Ayton under the net, but his attempt rimmed out to send the game to overtime.

Ayton dunked to open the extra period. Simons' 3 pushed the lead to 120-113 and Toronto couldn't keep up.

Ayton and rookie Scoot Henderson both returned after extended absences. Ayton missed five games with the hand sprain, while Henderson missed eight games with an adductor injury.

Henderson was on a minutes restriction but scored nine points in his first four minutes.

But Portland was still without Jerami Grant (right hamstring), Jabari Walker (right hip) and Malcolm Brogdon (right elbow). Shaedon Sharpe was out after core surgery.

Portland jumped out to a 22-8 lead after Simons' 3-pointer in the opening quarter. Portland pushed the lead to 38-18 in the second quarter.

Portland took a 63-46 lead into halftime. Ayton led the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

{allcanada} Hall of Fame CFL head coach Ritchie dead at age 85

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

Dave Ritchie, who was the head coach of the B.C. Lions for their iconic '94 Grey Cup victory over the Baltimore Stallions, died Saturday. He was 85.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, another CFL team Ritchie coached, confirmed the death. The cause was not immediately divulged.

Ritchie amassed a 52-41-1 regular-season record as a head coach with Winnipeg (1999-2004). That left him fourth overall in club history behind Bud Grant (102), current head coach Mike O'Shea (96) and Cal Murphy (86).

But it was during Ritchie's tenure as B.C.'s head coach that his club united Canada. The Lions dispatched Baltimore 26-23 in the 82nd Grey Cup on Lui Passaglia's game-ending 38-yard field goal at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver, capping the first championship ever in pro football to feature a U.S.-Canada matchup.

"Just that alone, to me, makes our youngsters special," Ritchie said about the contest in 2022 upon being inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. "For one week, everybody on our ball club was a Canadian."

Neil McEvoy, the Lions' co-general manager and director of football operations, said Ritchie will be missed by everyone across the CFL.

"Coach Ritchie was a champion at heart who represented the B.C. Lions with the utmost class and professionalism. Anyone who had the good fortune to work with him was better for it," McEvoy said in a statement.

Ritchie, of New Bedford, Mass., spent 11 of his 22 CFL seasons as a head coach with B.C. (1993-95), Montreal (1997-98) and Winnipeg. He won 108-of-187 career regular-season games to stand seventh all-time.

He also claimed Grey Cup rings as an assistant with Winnipeg (1990) and B.C. (2006).

Ritchie first joined the Bombers in 1990 on head coach Mike Riley's staff as a defensive line and special-teams coach. He left after the '91 season, then returned in 1999 after being named head coach and taking over a Winnipeg squad that was 3-15 in 1998.

Winnipeg improved to 6-12 in its first season under Ritchie, then 7-10-1 in 2000. But in 2001, Winnipeg posted a 14-4 regular-season record and advanced to the Grey Cup before dropping a 27-19 decision to the Calgary Stampeders.

Still, Ritchie was named the CFL's coach of the year that season.

"Dave Ritchie was a respected leader during his days as Blue Bombers head coach and in his other coaching positions across the Canadian Football League, in the NCAA and in Europe," Winnipeg president/CEO Wade Miller said in a statement. "He had a passion for his players and his teams and led both to great success.

"The Winnipeg Football Club offers our deepest sympathies to his wife Sharon, Dave's family, and his many friends."

Sometimes gruff and to the point, Ritchie also had a soft side, especially with his players. And away from the field, Ritchie, his Massachusetts accent very evident, had a very dry but infectious sense of humour.

"Dave Ritchie was the blueprint of what a head coach should be," former Bombers defensive lineman Doug Brown tweeted. "Authentic, charismatic & compassionate, paired with a fiery & competitive thunder that was unrivalled.

"May he rest in peace."

In relaxed settings with reporters, Ritchie would share entertaining and often funny stories from his long football career.

"Dave was an incredible leader of men, a brilliant football mind and a truly inspiring human being," CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie tweeted. "We are all fortunate to have met him and to have learned from him.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and everyone who knew him."

Ritchie was inducted into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 2014 but the pinnacle of his coaching career in Canada came with his induction into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

"It means a great deal because I believe the CFL is the top league in the world," Ritchie said at the time. "I'd get into a big-time argument but the athletes I had in the secondary and linebacker position, almost every one of them is in a Hall of Fame somewhere, whether it's British Columbia, Winnipeg or the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

"How can you lose when you have great youngsters around you? I might've been a little off the wall sometimes but I did have some great players, I also had many great coaches."

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Jacob Bryson and the Buffalo Sabres got the rare and unusual opportunity of celebrating one win twice.

After an offside video review led to Owen Power's goal with two seconds remaining in overtime being disallowed, the Sabres showed no letdown by returning from their locker room to have Alex Tuch score the decisive shootout goal in a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

"That was probably the craziest thing I've ever seen in a game," said Bryson, who forced overtime by scoring on a backhander with 8:21 left in regulation in a game Buffalo overcame a two-goal deficit.

"I came running in and half the guys were undressed already," Bryson added, describing the locker room scene. "But I'm glad we stuck together there and still pulled out a win after what happened there."

The announcement of the disallowed goal led to a chaotic scene in which the Sabres mascot, Sabretooth, ran off the ice and down Buffalo's tunnel to alert the team. Fans who had already begun exiting returned en masse and began booing.

The Oilers, who were preparing to shower, learned about the ruling from assistant coach Glen Gulutzan, forward Leon Draisaitl said. "Yeah, `Hairball' just came in and yelled that it might be offside, so obviously scramble to get your gear back on and get back out there."

Tage Thompson also scored in helping Buffalo snap an 0-2-1 skid. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 30 shots through overtime, and two more in the shootout. He sealed the win by getting his stick and blocker out to stop Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the Oilers third and final shootout attempt.

Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele had a goal and assist each for Edmonton, which lost its second straight following a five-game winning streak. Stuart Skinner stopped 25 shots through overtime and one of three shootout attempts.

Oilers captain Connor McDavid had his points and league-best assist streak end at 13 games despite enjoying several set-up and scoring opportunities, including a shot off the post in the final minute of the first period.

The point streak, in which McDavid combined for two goals and 27 assists, was tied for the sixth longest in the NHL this season. His assist streak was a career best and the league's longest since Erik Karlsson enjoyed a 14-game run last season with San Jose.

"Everyone was pretty disappointed and getting their gear off," Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said. "It gave us an opportunity to get that extra point but unfortunately we didn't."

The video review is automatic for games entering overtime, with replays clearly showing the Sabres being offside when defenseman Bowen Byram entered the Edmonton zone about 18 seconds earlier.

Tuch secured the win after Thompson and Draisaitl exchanged shootout goals. Driving in from the left wing, Tuch beat Skinner by snapping a shot inside the far post.

"They didn't have any problem getting their heads back into the game," Sabres coach Don Granato said. "And that was the message, 'Let's go win. Let's go win it again.'"

The game finished with three officials after Ryan Gibbons went to the bench and had to be escorted down the Sabres hallway just before the start of the third period. The NHL did not respond to a message from The Associated Press seeking an update on Gibbons.

{allcanada} Canadian Davies leaves injured in Bayern match

MUNICH — Canadian star Alphonso Davies' first start since a knee injury lasted just 14 minutes Saturday when he took a boot to the face in Bayern Munich's 8-1 win over Mainz in Bundesliga play.

Davies was clipped in the face by Swiss defender Silvan Widmer's boot as they came together in a challenge for a high ball near midfield. There was no foul on the play as Widmer's boot came up as he lost balance after going for the ball.

After receiving treatment on the field, Davies headed straight for the locker-room. He was replaced by Raphael Guerreiro.

Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel said after the match that Davies required dental work.

"He's at the dentist because he had a heavy hit there," Tuchel said through an interpreter, pointing to his mouth.

"We hope that it's not too bad," he added.

The 23-year-old left back from Edmonton strained a knee ligament strain during Bayern's 3-1 home win against Borussia Moenchengladbach on Feb. 3. He had made two appearances off the bench since prior to Saturday,

It's not the first time the Canadian has taken a boot to the head. In October 2022, he suffered a "cranial bruise" in a 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund.

He returned to action a week later.

Davies has won 44 caps for Canada, which takes on Trinidad and Tobago on March 23 in Frisco, Texas., in a Copa America qualifying playoff.

{allcanada} ‘Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue’ Greenlit By MGM+; Eric McCormack To Star In Anthony Horowitz Limited Series

Eric McCormack stars in limited series 'Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue'

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

MGM+ has given the green light to Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue. Will McCormack (Will & Grace, Perception) is the first actor cast in the mystery thriller, playing one of the leads in the six-part ensemble limited series written, created and executive produced by Anthony Horowitz (Magpie Murders) and produced by Eleventh Hour Films, a Sony Pictures Television-backed company.

SPT will distribute worldwide the series, which also will have a British broadcast partner.

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue follows the tale of nine strangers who find themselves lost in a remote Mexican jungle after their small plane traveling from Guatemala to the U.S. crashes. One by one, the survivors are murdered, leaving the remaining passengers to solve the terrifying mystery before they too fall victim to the killer.

McCormack will play Kevin, a former doctor who has been purchasing medical supplies in Guatemala. Casting continues, with filming set to begin this May in the Canary Islands.

"Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is a clever and wildly entertaining addition to MGM+'s growing slate of edge-of-your-seat thrillers," said Michael Wright, head of MGM+. "Anthony Horowitz has spun a masterfully inventive web of deception and intrigue that keeps audiences guessing until the very last ax falls."

A version of the project originally was developed by Horowitz with Blumhouse Television for the now-defunct shortform platform Quibi. Blumhouse is not involved in the current incarnation.

"I loved writing Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, which I think may be the twistiest story I've ever come up with," said Horowitz, who also penned the popular Alex Rider teen-spy book series. "It's not just a question of who is committing all these murders, it's why — and I hope audiences will enjoy the truly 'killer' ending."

Horowitz executive produces Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue with Jill Green and Eve Gutierrez for Eleventh Hour Films.

"This highly distinctive, cinematic drama will feature a wide cast of international characters stretching from Mexican soldiers stationed at a morgue close to the U.S. border to the international collection of passengers and staff on the plane — all of whom are hiding secrets from each other," Green and Gutierrez said. "We are assembling a fantastic ensemble cast, and Anthony Horowitz will lead them, and the audience, on a twisted journey deep inside a dangerous Mexican jungle."

McCormack is coming off a starring role in The Cottage, which recently wrapped its Broadway run at the Hayes Theater. In TV, he can be seen starring in the Hulu series The Other Black Girl, based on the best-selling novel. Best known for his role as Will Truman on NBC's Will & Grace, which he reprised in the show's late-2010s revival, McCormack won the Emmy for his performance in 2001.

His other series credits include starring in three seasons of Netflix's Travelers, where he also served as a director and producer. McCormack is repped by Gersh, and Harris Hartman at Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.

{allcanada} ‘Kim’s Convenience’ Stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee & Nicole Power Reuniting With Andrew Phung On ‘Run The Burbs’

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee & Nicole Power guesting on CBC's 'Run the Burbs' season 3

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

It's been nearly three years since Kim's Convenience closed the shop for the final time, and now two of its cast are reuniting with former co-star Andrew Phung on his sitcom Run the Burbs.

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Nicole Power will appear in upcoming season 3 episodes of Run the Burbs, the comedy Phung created after Kim's Convenience came to an end.

In the tenth episode of season three, entitled 'Phirst Love', Power will appear as Lisa, the ex-wife of the Phams' neighbour Hudson (Jonathan Langdon), who returns to town and interrupts Andrew (Phung) and Camille (Rakhee Morzaria)'s plans for a 'date day' when they have to run interference. It will launch in Tuesday, March 12 on CBC and streamer CBC Gem.

Then in the season finale, 'Summer Phorecast', Sun-Hyung Lee will guest star as Andrew's personal hero, municipal councillor Vernon Park. Andrew is elated when Park offers him advice on a dream plan to expand a summer camp program, only to discover that Park's interests may not align with his own.

Power played Shannon Ross, the manager of Handy Car Rental and love interest for Simu Liu's Jung Kim character in Kim's Convenience, which ran between 2016 and 2021, while Lee played the Kim family patriarch Sang-il Kim. Phung played Arnold "Kimchee" Han, who worked in the car rental and was best friend to Jung.

"I loved making Kim's Convenience," said Phung. "It was a joy to be a part of that show and working with that incredible cast each day was a dream come true. Simply put, Paul and Nicole are the best at what they do. I look up to them so much and I'm honoured to call them my friends — reuniting with them on screen this season means everything to me.

"I've been looking for the right moment to bring them onto Run the Burbs from the beginning, and finally, in season three, we have been able to develop characters that were perfect for them. From the first take it felt like no time had passed and we didn't skip a beat. They are hilarious in these roles, and I can't wait for everyone to see us back together."

"Paul and Nicole are both singular talents and they brought so much laughter and joy to the set of Run the Burbs this season. We're excited for fans to see their individual reunions with Andrew and to welcome them to the Rockridge family," said Karen Tsang, Executive Producer at Pier 21 Films.

Co-created by Phung and filmmaker Scott Townend and produced by Pier 21 Films, Run the Burbs follows life in an oddball, suburban community, where the Pham family try to live a normal existence. The show, which features a blended Indian and Vietnamese Canadian family, is known for its nuanced approach to culturally specific stories, including its signature Vietnamese Lunar New Year – Tết – episodes, the latest of which launches tonight on Canadian pubcaster CBC.

Fifth Season shops it internationally, and Hulu has rights in the U.S.

{allcanada} Matthew Sauvé Addiction Drama Series ‘Disrepair’ Lands Series Order At Bell Canada Streaming Channel TV1

One Night Stand actor Matthew Sauvé will star in a limited series about his experiences with addiction.

Sauvé will star in Disrepair alongside Tommy James Murphy (Last Resort) and Samora Smallwood (Star Trek: Discovery), with Bell Canada's streaming channel TV1 the commissioning network.

Co-creators are Sauvé, Murphy and Andrew Ravindran (Friendly Visit), who is directing. They produce the series under their newly formed banner, RavinMurph Pictures. With an overall focus on redemption stories, they filmed the post-dystopian-world suspense thriller Midnight Dreamers and are developing a comedy, among many others.

Canadian songwriter Simon Wilcox, known for the Twilight soundtrack and Nick Jonas' song 'Jealous' has been tapped to create original music.

Filming on the redemption story is set to begin in the small town of Oshawa, Canada, where the series is set, and the Toronto area later this spring. A fall launch date has been set.

The story follows Jake Thomas (Sauvé), who, after years of going in and out of rehabs, is determined not to relapse, but must confront the damaged family relationships his addiction has caused. Murphy plays younger brother James, while Smallwood us Eric, Jake's wife and mother to their child, who is concerned about the future of their marriage.

"I want people to know that recovery isn't always linear," said Sauvé. "I don't want my struggle for sobriety to be in vain. Addiction is a disease that also takes its toll on the ones we love the most.  Recovery enabled me to rebuild trust and mend my family relationships. I hope my story can help someone suffering in silence."

"We partnered with Matthew Sauvé and his team on Disrepair because we felt that this dramatic story of a person's struggles with addiction recovery needed to be shared," said Bell Media exec Paul Gardener. "Sauvé has brought some hard truth to the daily struggles so many people face. At TV1, we're always keen to share important, reflective, and relevant stories to our communities."

TV1 is delivered through Bell's Fibe TV video-on-demand service, which operates in local Canadian communities.

Sauvé is known for short film One Night Stand, which won him numerous acting awards. He has also appeared in A Stand For Damaged Fame and is co-starring alongside Ne-Yo and CeCe Peniston in the romantic comedy The Pact. He remains under the care of Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, which is also working with him on Disrepair.

His new indie, RavinMurph Pictures is focused on redemption stories and is currently working up post-dystopian-world suspense thriller Midnight Dreamers and developing a comedy.

{allcanada} Sharangovich scores twice as Flames rally to beat Penguins 4-3

--
banners Puppybear.tv - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) Yegor Sharangovich scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal with 50 seconds left in the third period, as the Calgary Flames rallied from two goals down in the third period to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 victory on Saturday night.

Nazem Kadri and Blake Coleman also scored for Calgary, which has won a season-high five consecutive games. Jacob Markstrom stopped 27 shots and the Flames moved five points behind Los Angeles for the second wild card in the Western Conference.

Jonathan Gruden got his first NHL goal, and Lars Eller and Jeff Carter also scored for Pittsburgh. Tristan Jarry had 16 saves.

With Tampa Bay's win earlier in the night, the Penguins fell 10 points behind the Lightning for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference - though Pittsburgh has five games in hand.

Trailing 3-1 midway through the third and being outshot by a considerable margin, Calgary suddenly woke up with two goals 32 seconds apart to tie it.

Kadri picked up the puck inside his own blue line, slipped it through the skates of Noel Acciari as he carried the puck up ice, then he made a slick move to dangle past Kris Letang before pulling the puck all the way across the crease and burying it on Jarry at 10:09.

With the crowd still buzzing, Coleman tied it 3-3, one-timing Andrew Mangiapane's centering pass for his team-leading 25th goal.

The go-ahead goal in the final minute came when Mikael Backlund stripped the puck from Letang along the sideboards and then dropped a pass to Sharangovich, who picked the top corner for his 23rd - one off his career high.

The opening goal at 16:42 came off the stick of

Gruden got the Penguins on the scoreboard first as he chased down a puck near the corner and flung a shot from a sharp angle that squeaked inside the near post on Markstrom with 3:18 left in the first period. The first NHL goal for the 23-year-old Gruden came in his ninth career game - sixth this season. He was called up from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL on Friday.

Eller had a power-play goal with 34 seconds left in the first to make it 2-0.

Sharangovich got the Flames on the scoreboard at 3:37 of the second when he poked a loose puck past a flat-footed Letang and got in alone, whipping a low shot through Jarry's pads.

Pittsburgh restored its two-goal cushion 2:51 into the third on Carter's deflection of Ryan Graves' point shot.

Before the game, the Flames retired goaltending great Miikka Kiprusoff's No. 34 - the fourth number raised to the rafters alongside Lanny McDonald's No. 9, Jarome Iginla's No. 12, and Mike Vernon's No. 30. In nine seasons with Calgary starting in 2003-04, Kiprusoff had a team-record 305 wins and 41 shutouts, and he won the Vezina Trophy in 2005-06.
