The Vancouver Canucks will induct former goaltender Roberto Luongo into the team's Ring of Honour on Dec. 14.

Luongo's induction was unanimously voted on by other former players, broadcasters, and members of the hockey club and was originally announced on November 30, 2022.

Drafted by the New York Islanders in 1997, Luongo spent several seasons with the Florida Panthers before he was traded to the Canucks in 2006. Over eight seasons in Vancouver, the Montreal native appeared in 448 regular-season games.

He is the club's all-time wins leader with 252 wins and also holds the franchise record for career shutouts (38), saves in a game (72), wins in a season (47) and games played in a season (75). Among Canuck goaltenders who played in 100 games or more, Luongo also ranks first in goals-against average (2.36) and save-percentage (.919).

Helping the team advance to the playoffs four times, he played a major role in the Canucks' journey to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Over 64 post-season game appearances, he recorded 32 wins with the team.

In 2014, Luongo was traded back to the Panthers where he spent the remainder of his NHL career.

"We are glad to officially have a date set for Roberto's incredibly well-deserved induction to the Canucks Ring of Honour," said president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford. "He is one of the greatest players to ever represent this team and his legacy continues in Vancouver to this day. As proud as we are to recognize Roberto with this achievement, it is as much of an honour for the organization and our fans to be able to celebrate him again in our building."

"Roberto is one of the greatest Canucks of all time and we are thrilled to be able to officially congratulate him and celebrate all his accomplishments with this franchise," said team owner Francesco Aquilini. "For eight years, he amazed and entertained us, brought us to our feet, and made us believe. He was a true professional who led by example, both on and off the ice, and we look forward to permanently recognizing him in the Ring of Honour alongside other Vancouver Canucks legends."

Luongo marks the eighth player to be inducted into the Canucks Ring of Honour, as it presently includes Orland Kurtenbach, Kirk McLean, Thomas Gradin, Harold Snepsts, Pat Quinn, Mattias Ohlund, and Alex Burrows.

HAMILTON — Derel Walker is back in the East Division.

The veteran CFL receiver signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Wednesday. The club also signed American defensive lineman Jamal Davis II.

Walker, a two-time CFL all-star, appeared in one game this year with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, registering three catches for 28 yards and a touchdown Week 1 against Edmonton before sustaining a knee injury. He was released by the Riders on Aug. 9.

The 32-year-old American has suited up for 92 career regular-season games with Edmonton (2015-17, '18, '21-22), the Toronto Argonauts (2019) and Saskatchewan, recording 474 catches for 6,681 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Walker was the CFL's top rookie in 2015 and also won a Grey Cup that season with Edmonton.

Davis, 28, appeared in 28 games over three seasons with the Montreal Alouettes, registering 49 tackles, one special-teams tackle and nine sacks, before being released on Monday.

Davis said on social media that he asked for his release.

The six-foot-four, 250-pound Davis suited up for three games with the NFL's Miami Dolphins in 2019 while also spending time with the Houston Texans (2019), Indianapolis Colts (2019), Tennessee Titans (2019, '20), Green Bay Packers (2020), Cleveland Browns (2020) and Los Angeles Chargers (2022).

{allcanada} Norris closer to playing game for Senators

--

Josh Norris wore a regular practice jersey Wednesday for the first time since training camp began.

Despite being a full participant in practice, coach D.J. Smith said the forward is still "not officially cleared for contact."

Norris, who hasn't played a regular-season game since re-injuring his shoulder Jan. 21, "tweaked something" in his shoulder two weeks ago. He is expected to play multiple preseason games, but the Senators still don't know which ones.

"Today's practice will have a lot to do with that," Smith said. "We'll see how he feels. We're not going to put him in a situation if he isn't 100 percent mentally there and the doctors haven't cleared him to play in that game. He's really close. So, he's going to play in a couple exhibition games for sure. Is it Friday? I don't know. Is it out east? (Sunday) We'll see. I think today's practice and tomorrow's practice will dictate a lot of that."

The 24-year-old has missed 90 games the past two seasons due to shoulder injuries.

Jakob Pelletier will have surgery on his left shoulder next week and is out indefinitely.

The 22-year-old forward was injured during the first period of a 5-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken in a preseason game at Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday.

Pelletier was hit into the boards by Kraken forward Marián Studenič at 19:53. Studenic was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct on the play.

"You feel bad for him," Flames forward Mikael Backlund said Monday. "We'll see how it goes. Hopefully he comes back here soon. I feel bad for him. Such a positive energy guy, great teammate, so it's really hard to see him leave the game early on."

Pelletier had one assist and two blocked shots in 7:17 of ice time in his preseason debut.

{allcanada} CanWNT clinches Olympic berth with victory over Jamaica

TORONTO (AP) — Cloe Lacasse and Jordyn Huitema scored, and Canada defeated Jamaica 2-1 on Tuesday night in the second leg of the teams' Olympic qualifier to secure a berth at next summer's Paris Games.

Canada is the reigning Olympic gold medalist after winning at the Tokyo Games two years ago.

Canada went into the match with the advantage after defeating Jamaica 2-0 in the first leg of the CONCACAF play-in qualifier last week in Kingston.

The United States had already secured the first of CONCACAF's two spots in the field for the Olympics.

Drew Spence gave Jamaica the lead with a goal on a free kick that sailed over the wall and tucked into the corner, out of reach of Canadian goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan in the 33rd minute.

After a pair of shots that hit the crossbar, Canada broke through in the 39th with a goal by Lacasse that put the team up 3-1 on aggregate.

Huitema came into the game as a second-half substitute and scored in the 50th before a packed house at BMO Field. The announced attendance was 29,212.

Canada was coming off a disappointing finish at the Women's World Cup this summer. The Canadians didn't advance out of the group stage. Jamaica fell to Colombia in the round of 16 at the World Cup.

BC Lions offensive guard Sukh Chungh did not practice Tuesday and is not expected to play against the Saskatchewan Roughriders due to an ankle injury, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.

Lalji adds that backup quarterback Dane Evans (back) and fullback David Mackie (knee) did not participate as well and are questionable.

Wide receiver Dominique Rhymes, linebacker Bo Lokombo and defensive back Emmanuel Rugamba will all play against the Roughriders.

Rhymes, 30, has played in six games for the Lions this season, catching 22 passes for 316 yards and five touchdowns.

The 23-year-old Lokombo has tallied 68 tackles, three sacks, an interception and a touchdown in 12 games.

{allcanada} Canucks will be comfortable family not a dictatorship, says new captain Hughes

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

VICTORIA — Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes says he sees himself as the type of leader who wants to build a family atmosphere on the team where everybody feels welcome.

"It's definitely not a dictatorship," he said Sunday as the NHL team completed its training camp and started pre-season exhibition games ahead of its Oct. 11 season opener against the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

"There's going to be lots of guys speaking up or have different roles and feel comfortable doing that, and that's how it should be," he said.

Hughes, 23, was named Canucks captain earlier this month, succeeding former captain Bo Horvat who was traded to the New York Islanders last season.

The smooth-skating defenceman said collaboration and openness will be the hallmarks of his leadership style.

"I want everyone to have a voice and I want it to be a family," Hughes said. "When I know that one of the younger guys says something in the room, that's when I know we've kind of turned it into a family."

Hughes said he understands at training camp and early in the season some younger players are nervous and would rather not speak up.

"I was that guy," he said. "I want guys to feel comfortable who they are. I don't care if you're a young guy, first year guy or just first camp. I mean don't be obnoxious, but be yourself and feel comfortable with yourself. That's the big thing with me."

Hughes said being named captain will also be a personal learning experience as he progresses in his hockey career.

"I'll just keep learning, learning how to deal with the role, how to handle my teammates and enjoy it and have fun with it," he said. "Not only with the captaincy, but my own game. I always feel like I'm growing. It's a big part of why I keep getting better."

The off-season arrivals of defencemen Ian Cole from Tampa Bay, Matt Irwin from Washington and Carson Soucy from Seattle and last year's late season acquisition of Filip Hronek from Detroit adds veteran presence and experience to the Canucks blueline, Hughes said.

Cole and Soucy also bring playoff experience to the team, he said.

Hughes said he's looking forward to this season after last year, when the Canucks finished out of the playoffs in sixth place in the Pacific Division.

"Guys are excited to play," he said. "We need guys who are really competitive, want to win and hate losing."

{allcanada} QMJHL names new top goaltender award after legendary netminder Roy

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

QUEBEC — The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's goaltender of the year will be honoured with a trophy bearing the name of a legend between the pipes and behind the bench.

The league unveiled the Patrick-Roy Trophy on Sunday at a press conference at Videotron Centre, home of the Memorial Cup champion Quebec Remparts.

The new award, named in honour of Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy, will be given to the top goaltender as judged by a number of factors.

Eligible goaltenders must have participated in at least 40 per cent of the minutes played by his team and must be among the leaders in goals-against-average, save percentage, shutouts, and winning percentage.

The Jacques-Plante Trophy, which is given annually to the goaltender with the lowest goals-against-average during the regular season, will still be awarded.

Roy played in the QMJHL from 1982 to 1985 and spent more than 12 seasons over two stints as head coach of the Remparts, leading the team to Memorial Cup titles in 2006 and 2023.

He stepped down as Ramparts head coach and general manager in June.

The award was announced before the Remparts hosted the Rimouski Oceanic.

In other QMJHL action Sunday, Blainville-Boisbriand welcomed Shawinigan, Drummondville entertained Chicoutimi, Rouyn-Noranda hosted Val-d'Or and Gatineau visited Victoriaville.

{allcanada} Almada leads Atlanta United into postseason with victory over Montreal

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

ATLANTA (AP-CP) — Thiago Almada had a goal and two assists and Atlanta United wrapped up a spot in the post-season with a 4-1 victory over CF Montreal on Saturday night.

Xande Silva picked up his second goal in his seventh appearance for Atlanta United (13-8-10), using an assist from Saba Lobjanidze and Giorgos Giakoumakis in the 30th minute for a 1-0 lead. Silva added an assist three minutes later on Almada's 10th goal of the campaign for a 2-0 lead.

Montreal (11-15-4) pulled within a goal at halftime when Ahmed Hamdi took a pass from Lassi Lappalainen in the 40th minute and found the net for the first time this season. It was Hamdi's first goal for Montreal since scoring twice in his 2021 rookie season.

"At 2-0, we really weren't in the game and (then we) came back with the goal," said Montreal captain Samuel Piette. "We had some good moments offensively in the first half when we were able to isolate Lassi (Lappalainen) on the left and Zachary (Brault-Guillard) and let them do their one-on-ones. We created some half-chances, including the goal.

"So, at 2-1, yes, you go into the dressing room and you're still in the game, but you can feel that you're in trouble and that third goal quickly knocked the wind out of us. So, it's unfortunate."

Atlanta United regained a two-goal lead in the first minute of the second half on an unassisted netter by Giakoumakis — his 15th score of the season to tie for the league lead. Almada snagged a second assist in the 89th minute on Edwin Mosquera's second goal of the campaign.

After the match, Montreal head coach Hernan Losada singled out the poor start to the second half.

"It's a shame that we started the second half badly, to be honest, because the message at halftime was to stay focused and stay in the game until the end, because we know that Atlanta gives you opportunities to score," he said. "They concede a lot of goals, they score a lot of goals too, but it's a shame that the third goal came at the start of the second half."

Brad Guzan finished with two saves for Atlanta United. Jonathan Sirois saved four shots for Montreal.

Montreal falls to 2-11-2 on the road this season. The club is currently in eighth place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference with four games remaining this season.

"The mood remains positive even after this loss," said midfielder Mathieu Choiniere. "We know we've got four games left, and our fate is in our own hands. So, we're going to stay positive."

Atlanta is unbeaten in six home matches against Montreal, 5-0-1. The club won back-to-back matches at home for just the second time this season.

Montreal travels to play Orlando City on Saturday. Atlanta United travels to play the Philadelphia Union on Oct. 4.

"We're coming off a series of games, a difficult stadium, a difficult surface. Now it's a question of recharging our batteries to get to Orlando," said Losada. "Four (games remaining), everything is possible and everything is in our hands."

{allcanada} Canucks sign defenceman Sawyer Mynio to entry-level contract

--

The Vancouver Canucks signed defenceman Sawyer Mynio to a three-year, entry-level contract on Sunday.

Vancouver selected Mynio in the third round, 89th overall, during the 2023 NHL Draft in June.

"Sawyer has gained some valuable experience since we drafted him, taking part in our summer development camp, Penticton Young Stars Tournament and our training camp in Victoria." Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said in a statement.

"We have liked the way he has looked on the ice and our staff is looking forward to helping him improve his game and skillset in the years to come."

Mynio is coming off a 31-point regular season (five goals and 26 assists) and a run to the Memorial Cup tournament with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League.

The 18-year-old from Kamloops, B.C., also had one goal and three assists in 19 playoff games as the Thunderbirds captured the WHL championship.

{allcanada} Toronto FC match vs. NYCFC postponed due to water main break at Red Bull Arena

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

HARRISON, N.J. — Toronto FC's game with New York City FC has been put back a day to Sunday due to a water main break to the pipeline that services Red Bull Arena.

News of the postponement came three hours 15 minutes before the scheduled 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday.

"As local authorities assess the damage, all water to the stadium has been shut down," NYCFC said in a statement.

The game is now scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.

NYCFC usually plays its home games at Yankee Stadium but the Yankees are at home, forcing the MLS team to shift to Red Bull Arena, home of the rival New York Red Bulls.

Toronto has had little luck of late at Red Bull Arena, thumped 5-0 there in July by NYCFC in Leagues Cup play in July.

The Yankees were also forced to postpone their game Saturday game with the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks, citing "the forecast of sustained inclement weather" due to Tropical Storm Ophelia.

The baseball game was rescheduled for Monday at Yankee Stadium.

Toronto (4-15-10) came into weekend play in last place (15th) in the Eastern Conference and escaping the MLS basement only on goal difference from Colorado (minus-21 compared to the Rapids' minus-23 although Colorado has a game in hand).

Toronto has five regular-season games remaining. Former Canada coach John Herdman, who takes over the team on Oct. 1, will be in charge for the final three.

Coming off a 4-0 midweek loss at Inter Miami, Toronto has won just one of its last 16 games (1-12-3) in all competitions. TFC is the only team in the league yet to win on the road this season with an 0-10-4 record away from home.

{allcanada} Matthews could have expanded role on penalty kill with Maple Leafs this season

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

TORONTO -- Auston Matthews has never consistently killed penalties since entering the NHL in 2016-17 but the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to see if the center can grow into the role throughout training camp.

"You're down a man but at the same time, it's hockey, a lot of anticipation, a lot of reads and I feel like I have a good stick and can break up plays," Matthews said. "I'd love to be utilized on it."

So why turn to Matthews now, to help in an area of the game he has rarely played in at the NHL level or even prior reaching the NHL?

"Auston can do anything you ask him to do, anything he puts his mind to," Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe said. "He's embraced it in the early going and we will continue with it through preseason."

More pragmatically, the Maple Leafs have minutes to fill on the penalty kill this season after losing forwards Noel Acciari, Alexander Kerfoot, Ryan O'Reilly and Zach Aston-Reese this offseason, all of whom were turned to last season while short-handed.

"There's a need and a void perhaps is the best way to describe it," Keefe said. "This will be a longer look for him just to get comfortable and familiar with it. … Ideally for me, Auston is comfortable to take penalty-kill reps, same with Willy (Nylander) who has killed more than Auston over the last couple of seasons and will take a bigger step this year as well, but also have others step up so depending on what the game is calling for, we can utilize different people in different situations."

Despite playing just 3:29 short-handed in total in 74 games last season, Matthews led all Toronto forwards in blocked shots with 92, twice as many as Kerfoot (46), who was second among Maple Leafs forwards; he ranked third on the team in takeaways (68).

Matthews, who has played 24:19 short-handed in his seven NHL seasons, said seeing offensively proficient players killing penalties can affect how a power play approaches the game because of the risk of giving up a chance if a power play gets too careless.

"I've always thought of it too when you go out against guys like Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand on the penalty kill, it definitely makes you think a little bit more maybe just because not only are they very good defensively, they can knock pucks out of the air and force you to make plays in tough positions and then transition the other way," Matthews said. "Obviously you're not trying to score every time you are out there but there's definitely a lot of opportunity there and something I definitely want to embrace."

Matthews, who scored 40 goals last season, has 299 goals in 481 career NHL games and has not scored fewer than 34 in any season.

Defenseman Mark Giordano, who averaged 2:17 short-handed per game last season in 78 games, said he sees the potential for Matthews to put his offensive ability on display while short-handed.

"That's the direction our league is going in," Giordano said. "A lot of teams are attacking on the penalty kill and you see it on a lot of teams, they're putting their best players out there for a reason. There's four forwards on the ice on the other side so you can attack a little bit more and maybe use that to your advantage. I think [Matthews would] be great. You look at our forwards last year, he led our forwards in blocked shots, he's really good defensively, it makes sense for sure."

The Maple Leafs also experimented on the power play during training camp on Saturday replacing Morgan Rielly with John Klingberg, who signed a one-year, $4.15 million contract with Toronto as an unrestricted free agent during the off season, on the top power play unit that also included Matthews, Nylander, Mitchell Marner and John Tavares.

Toronto was second in the NHL last season on the power play (26 percent). Since entering the NHL in 2014-15, Klingberg has been proficient on the power play ranking 11th in points among defensemen (158). Rielly ranks 16th in that span (127 points).

"We know very well what it looks like with Morgan there," Keefe said. "We have a huge sample of that and it's something we can go to at any time. We feel very comfortable with it but we don't know what it looks like with Klingberg. There's some different dynamics there, he's a right shot which is probably the biggest change but Klingberg has had lots of success in that position over his career so we just want to use this as an opportunity to help Klingberg get comfortable and there's no better way to do that than to be with our best people and then also get a good sample of what it looks like with him in that position... It's important to have options."

{allcanada} Flames season preview: Huska enters 1st season as coach

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

Coach: Ryan Huska (first season)

Last season: 38-27-17; fifth place in Pacific Division, did not qualify for Stanley Cup Playoffs

3 KEYS

1. Huska era begins

After five seasons as a Flames assistant, Ryan Huska was promoted to coach, replacing Darryl Sutter, who was fired May 1. As a member of the organization since 2014, starting as coach of Calgary's former American Hockey League affiliate Adirondack, Huska is very familiar with his roster. He will attempt to get more offense out of 2022 free agent forward signings Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri, who each struggled in his first season with the Flames under Sutter. Huberdeau had 55 points (15 goals, 40 assists) in 79 games after recording 115 points (30 goals, 85 assists) in 80 games in his final season with the Florida Panthers in 2021-22. Kadri had 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) in 82 games last season after having 87 points (28 goals, 59 assists) in 71 games the previous year with the Colorado Avalanche.

2. Bounce-back season for Markstrom

Goalie Jacob Markstrom is entering the fourth season of a six-year contract he signed with Calgary on Oct. 9, 2020. The 33-year-old is coming off one of his worst statistical seasons in the NHL with a 23-21-12 record, 2.92 goals against average and .892 save percentage in 59 games (58 starts). The Flames are looking for Markstrom to have a strong season to challenge for a Stanley Cup Playoff berth in a strong Pacific Division. Markstrom was 37-15-9 in 2021-22 with a 2.22 GAA and .922 save percentage starting all 63 games he played, which helped propel Calgary into the playoffs that season before being eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in five games in the Western Conference Second Round.

3. Dealing with potential UFAs

Flames first-year general manager Craig Conroy said at his introductory media availability on May 23 that he did not want to enter the season with seven roster players as pending unrestricted free agents. Conroy may not have a choice, but how he deals with the potential of losing players without getting anything in return could dictate Calgary's season. Forwards Mikael Backlund and Elias Lindholm, and defensemen Noah Hanifin, Chris Tanev, Nikita Zadorov, Jordan Oesterle and Dennis Gilbert are each in the final season of their respective contracts.

ROSTER RUNDOWN

Making the cut

The Flames lost their leading scorer, forward Tyler Toffoli, who was traded to the New Jersey Devils for forward Yegor Sharangovich on June 27. Toffoli had an NHL career-high 73 points (34 goals, 39 assists) playing all 82 games as a first-line right-wing last season. Sharangovich had 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 75 games in a bottom-six role with the Devils. It will be up to Huberdeau, Kadri, Lindholm, Backlund and center Dillon Dube to make up most of the offense up front for Calgary, which ranked 19th in the League in goals scored last season (258).

Most intriguing addition

Selected by New Jersey in the fifth round (No. 141) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Sharangovich had 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) in 76 games in his second season with the Devils in 2021-22. The 25-year-old's ice time decreased last season playing behind forwards Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, Dawson Mercer, Tomas Tatar and Erik Haula, and so did his production. Sharangovich has the potential to be a 25-goal scorer based on his production the past two seasons and will be given more opportunity offensively with the Flames, likely playing a top-six role.

Biggest potential surprise

Goalie Dustin Wolf will be challenging to back up Markstrom this season and has the potential of making a bigger contribution if given the opportunity. The 22-year-old won the Les Cunningham Award last season as AHL most valuable player for Calgary, along with his second Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the league's top goalie. He appears ready to make the jump to the NHL and could be one of the season's biggest surprises.

Ready to contribute

Jakob Pelletier played 24 games with the Flames in 2022-23 and is expected to make the jump to the NHL full time this season. The 22-year-old forward had seven points (three goals, four assists), but it will be his defensive play that should determine his spot in the lineup. Selected with the No. 26 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Pelletier is projected to develop into a top-six forward but will need to work his way up the lineup.

Fantasy sleeper

Sharangovich, C (undrafted on average in fantasy) -- He had an NHL career-high 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) with the Devils in 2021-22 and has deep sleeper potential with a chance to land in Calgary's top six. The best-case scenario for Sharangovich under Huska would be a top-line spot with fantasy bounce-back candidates Lindholm and Huberdeau. -- Anna Dua

Nathan MacKinnon may have won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche wearing No. 29, but to Halifax Mooseheads fans he will now, officially, be No. 22 forever.

The Mooseheads, of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, retired their former player's number Friday in a ceremony held before their game against the Charlottetown Islanders.

For MacKinnon, the No. 1 pick of the 2013 NHL Draft who won the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year the following season before blossoming into a six-time All Star and Stanley Cup champion, it was extra special playing for the Mooseheads having grown up in Halifax. He received a huge ovation from the capacity crowd Friday.

MacKinnon's former Moosehead teammates and coaches, friends and family and even Pittsburgh Penguins captain and fellow Halifax native Sidney Crosby appeared in a special congratulatory video.

"This team has meant a lot to me my whole life," MacKinnon said in an interview before the game. "It's coming full circle. I never thought that my jersey would be retired here, growing up as a Moosehead fan... Those two years kind of stick out in my life more than anything I think."

The Redblacks' injury report states that the 29-year-old had been dealing with an ankle injury.

A product of UMass, Santos-Knox has played in seven games for the Redblacks this season, amassing 42 tackles and a sack.
