MAPLE LEAFS (25-32-5) at CAPITALS (33-20-10)

TV: TVA, CITY, CSN-DC

Season series: The Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals have split two games, with each team winning 6-2 at Air Canada Centre. Toronto center Tyler Bozak and Washington forwards Eric Fehr and Marcus Johansson each has two goals.

Maple Leafs team scope: After putting together back-to-back wins for the first time since mid-December earlier in the week, Toronto was shut out at the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. The Maple Leafs are all but certain to miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the ninth time in 10 seasons after going 6-23-2 in their past 31 games, leading to rampant speculation general manager Dave Nonis will be looking to remake the roster at the NHL Trade Deadline (3 p.m. ET on Monday). "I think the guys are a little sick of hearing about of what might happen," goaltender Jonathan Bernier said after a 4-0 loss to the Canadiens in Montreal. "But as professionals we can't worry about that. We have to do our jobs on the ice and not worry about what's happening off the ice." Center Zack Sill, acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in a trade for center Daniel Winnik on Wednesday, led the Maple Leafs with five hits against the Canadiens.

Capitals team scope: Defenseman Tim Gleason will make his debut with Washington, which has lost three in a row. The Capitals acquired Gleason, 32, in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday for defenseman Jack Hillen and a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. "I'm pretty excited, obviously," Gleason said. "It's a playoff team … so this is real exciting to be in the race. I'm really looking forward to moving along here." Gleason, who played 39 games with the Maple Leafs last season, had seven points (one goal) and was minus-18 in 55 games with Carolina. He faced the Capitals on Friday in the Hurricanes' 3-0 win in Raleigh. Washington is 8-1-1 in its past 10 games against Toronto at Verizon Center. Defenseman John Carlson has five points (three goals) in his past six games.

KINGS (29-20-12) at JETS (31-20-12)

TV: FS-W, TSN3

Season series: The Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets split two games at Staples Center. Winnipeg won 5-4 in a shootout on Jan. 10. Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty has four assists.

Kings team scope: Before departing for Winnipeg, Los Angeles practiced its special-teams play, according to the Kings website. Their power play is 1-for-11 in its past four games, and their penalty kill has allowed one goal in its past 11 games (25-for-26). The website reported that defenseman Robyn Regehr skated after being hit in the hand/wrist by a shot in a 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Goalie Jonathan Quick, whose streak of 16 consecutive starts ended Friday, is expected to start. The Kings have lost their past two games after an eight-game winning streak and are three points behind the Vancouver Canucks for second place in the Pacific Division. The Kings' three-game road trip ends Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers.

Jets team scope: Right wing Blake Wheeler practiced Saturday after missing the past two games because of a lower-body injury. "If [Wheeler] comes to the rink [Sunday] feeling the way that he did today, he'll be in the lineup, yes," coach Paul Maurice told the Jets website. Wheeler skated with center Adam Lowry and left wing Chris Wheeler to avoid disrupting the first two lines. "I really liked how [the top two lines] looked [in a 2-1 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday]," Maurice said. The loss ended a four-game home winning streak; Winnipeg has a three-point lead for the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson has started five of the past six games. The Jets end their homestand Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators then begin a four-game road trip.
