The Ottawa Senators are locking down some centre depth.

Stephen Halliday signed a two-year contract extension worth $2.15 million, the team announced on Tuesday.

Halliday, 23, made his NHL debut this season, appearing in 30 games with four goals and seven assists.

He did not suit up in the playoffs as the Senators were swept in the first round by the Carolina Hurricanes.

“Stephen has shown great growth in his game. He is committed to his craft and has a passion for the game,” general manager Steve Staios said in a statement. “We’re pleased to have him signed and excited about what the future brings.”

The six-foot-four, 214-pound Halliday, of Ajax, Ont., also put up a point per game with AHL Belleville, registering two goals and 27 assists in 29 games.

He originally joined the Senators as a fourth-round pick in 2022.
