Moïse Bombito is ready to go.

The Nice centre-back told OneSoccer’s Kristian Jack that he expects to play in Canada’s FIFA World Cup opener on June 12 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bombito, 26, has not played since breaking his leg in a 2-2 draw with Monaco on Oct. 5. The Montreal native got tangled up with United States forward Folarin Balogun and fell awkwardly to the ground. Bombito’s season was over after only two matches following a late start to his campaign after recovering from a broken wrist.

Asked what his chances were of playing in Toronto in the Group B opener, Bombito was unequivocal.

“One hundred percent,” Bombito said “I’m really confident using the leg that was broken, [it’s] not broken anymore...[I’m] ready to use it.”

The New Hampshire product is expected to feature in Canada’s last two pre-tournament friendlies against Uzbekistan in Edmonton and versus Ireland in Montreal. An MLS All-Star in 2024 with Colorado Rapids, Bombito has been capped 19 times by Canada.
