{allcanada} Blue Jays trade left-hander Lauer to Dodgers

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded left-hander Eric Lauer to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash, it was announced Sunday afternoon.

The Athletic’s Katie Woo reported earlier Sunday that Lauer would be joining the Dodgers after being designated for assignment by the Jays this week.

Lauer, 30, played a big part in the Jays’ playoff run a season ago but has struggled to begin the 2026 campaign.

Prior to being cut loose, Lauer had a 6.69 ERA in eight appearances, six of them coming as starts. He was tagged for six earned runs and three home runs in his most recent outing, which came last Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels in Toronto.

The Jays then designated him for assignment in order to make room for right-hander Yariel Rodriguez a day later.

Lauer turned in a 3.18 ERA in 28 appearances for the Jays during the 2025 regular season.
