Frankie Amaya is back in Major League Soccer.

CF Montreal announced Thursday the midfielder has joined the club through the end of the season on loan from Liga MX side Toluca.

Amaya, 25, has 131 games of MLS experience over seven seasons with Los Angeles FC, New York Red Bulls and FC Cincinnati. He was the first overall selection of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft out of UCLA.

"Frankie is an experienced midfielder with strong technical skills," CFMTL managing director Luca Saputo said in a statement. "His capacity to maintain possession along with his ability to link the defence to offence will provide us with additional options and strengthen our squad."

A native of Santa Ana, CA, Amaya made 19 appearances for LAFC last season, scoring once. He has eight goals across his time in the league.

Internationally, Amaya made nine appearances for the United States U20 side.

Through five games, CF Montreal currently sits in 12th place in the East on three points. The team returns to action on Saturday with a visit to the New England Revolution.
