Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil is out indefinitely with a facial fracture after taking a puck to the face during Wednesday's practice, confirmed head coach Adam Foote.
Chytil took the shot to the facial area during practice as the Canucks prepare to return from the Olympic break next week.
The 6-foot-2 centre has struggled to stay in the lineup this year, only appearing in 12 games due to concussion problems. He missed the final game before the Olympic break due to migraines.
He has three goals through 12 games this season.
Chytil was acquired by the Canucks, along with defenceman Victor Mancini and a draft pick, from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward J.T. Miller and defencemen Jackson Dorrington and Erik Brannstrom in January of 2025.
The 26-year-old forward only appeared 15 games with the Canucks last season before going down with a concussion.
Drafted 21st overall by the Rangers in 2017, Chytil has 80 goals and 173 points in 405 career games split between the Rangers and Canucks.
Vancouver sits last in the Pacific Division with an 18-33-6 record and are 19 points back of the Anaheim Ducks for the final wild-card spot.
