Promise David has a suspected thigh injury that will be re-evaluated in the coming days, sources tell TSN.

The 24-year-old was stretchered off in the 76th minute of his club Union Saint-Gilloise's 2-1 win on Saturday over Antwerp after David collided with a defender and fell awkwardly inside the penalty box.

Although Union Saint-Gilloise released a statement Saturday night saying David did not suffer any fractures, any time on the sidelines hampers the momentum he was building with his club and country.

David is currently second in the Belgian League scoring with nine league goals and has a total of 15 goals in 37 matches across all competitions. Powered by David's goals, Union Saint-Gilloise sit first in Belgium and recently advanced to the Belgium Cup final.

David's club success was also meant to elevate his Canadian stock too.

Since mid-December, David's playing minutes have increased. He now regularly finishes a full 90 minutes as the 6-foot-5 striker tries to convince Canadian head coach Jesse Marsch he can be relied on to be Jonathan David's starting striker partner, and not just a goal-poaching substitute.

Timeline will now play a factor in David's recovery with 16 weeks remaining before Canada opens its 2026 World Cup on June 12.

Time is now also a factor for Alphonso Davies after Canada's captain looked emotional as he left Bayern Munich's 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt with what TSN is hearing is a small hamstring tear. Davies is expected to be out for a number of weeks.

Canada's men reunite in late March for two friendlies at BMO Field in Toronto against Iceland and Tunisia.
