{allcanada} WHL Roundup: Bedard, Feist lead Pats over Warriors in OT

 

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Connor Bedard opened the scoring, then set up Layton Feist's winner at 4:33 of overtime as the Regina Pats edged the Moose Jaw Warriors 3-2 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League action.

The 15-year-old Bedard, the first player to be granted exceptional player status to enter the WHL a year early, took over the league scoring lead with 19 points in 10 games. He has produced a point in every game this season including seven multi-point outings for Regina, which drafted him No. 1 in 2020 out of North Vancouver, B.C.

Feist finished the game with a pair of goals while Roddy Ross made 28 saves for the Pats (4-4-2).

Braden Yager and Eric Alarie scored for the Warriors (4-5-1), who are on a five-game slide.

Moose Jaw goalie Brett Mirwald stopped 38-of-41 shots in defeat.

REGINA — Ethan Kruger stopped 28-of-29 shots and Ben McCartney scored the first of four power-play goals for Brandon, and the Wheat Kings (7-2-1) toppled Prince Albert (3-5-2) for their fourth win in a row.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Adam Hall struck twice and Eric Florchuk scored once and set up two more as Vancouver (2-1-0) dealt Victoria (0-3-0) its third straight loss to open the season.

KELOWNA, B.C. — The WHL announced earlier in the day that the game between Kamloops (2-0-0) and Kelowna (1-1-0) has been suspended after a member of the Rockets hockey staff tested positive for COVID-19.
