{allcanada} Maple Leafs sign goalie Michael Hutchinson to two-year, $1.45M deal

Michael Hutchinson is heading back to Toronto.

The Maple Leafs announced Friday that they've signed the 30-year-old goalie to a two-year, two-way deal worth $1.45 million. Hutchinson drew the ire of Leafs fans last season as he struggled when he was temporarily thrust into the role of starter after Frederik Andersen was sidelined by a neck injury.

The native of Barrie, Ont., put up a 4-9-1 record with a .886 save percentage and 3.66 goals-against average in 15 appearances with the Leafs before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche for defenceman Calle Rosen near the end of February.

Hutchinson made one start down the stretch for the Avs, and appeared in four playoff games, recording a 2.75 GAA and .910 save percentage.

In 127 career NHL games -- with stints in Winnipeg, Florida, Toronto and Colorado -- Hutchinson is 51-52-14 with a 2.80 GAA and a .905 SV%.

The Leafs now have four NHL-calibre goalies on their roster: Andersen, Jack Campbell, Aaron Dell (signed earlier this off-season) and Hutchinson.
