{allcanada} Oilers among teams with interest in free agent Corey Perry

The Edmonton Oilers are among the teams interested in free agent forward Corey Perry, according to Sportsnet's John Shannon.

There are at least four teams "going heavy after" Perry, reports Shannon, ahead of the opening of free agency on Monday at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT.

The Anaheim Ducks bought out the final two years of Perry's eight-year, $69-million extension on June 19. At the time, Ducks GM Bob Murray called the move "one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make in my 44 years in the NHL."

The 34-year-old played in just 31 games for the Ducks this past season after suffering a knee injury in the pre-season. Perry finished the campaign with six goals and 10 points.

In 14 seasons with the Ducks, the Peterborough, Ont., native racked up 776 points in 988 games, capturing the Hart and the Maurice Richard Trophy after his 50-goal, 98-point season in 2010-11. He also helped the franchise to its first Stanley Cup in his sophomore season.
