The Blue Jays selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Scott Diamond on Monday and sent switch pitcher Pat Venditte back to Triple-A Buffalo.

To make room for Diamond on the 40-man roster, the team transferred lefty Franklin Morales to the 60-disabled list.

Diamond, 29, has yet to play for the Blue Jays this season. He owns a 4-6 record with a 3.16 ERA in 12 starts with the Buffalo Bisons this season.

Venditte, 30, owns a 5.19 ERA in eight games with the Blue Jays this season. He allowed two hits, two runs and struck out three in two innings of work against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

While Diamond will be available for the Blue Jays on Monday night against the Philadelphia Phillies, the team will be without slugger Edwin Encarnacion, who is dealing with a jammed index finger, manager John Gibbons said.

Gibbons also said injured shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will resume baseball activities on Wednesday after suffering a setback last week.
