SENATORS (31-29-7) at HURRICANES (29-26-11)

TV: 7 p.m. ET; RDS2, TSN5, FS-CR, NHL.TV

Season series: The Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators have each won a game on home ice. Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner scored with 3.3 seconds left to force overtime and forward Jordan Staal's goal at 2:51 of the extra period gave Carolina a 3-2 win on Nov. 7 at PNC Arena. Senators defenseman Cody Ceci had the go-ahead goal 3:50 into the third period of a 4-2 Ottawa win on Feb. 18 at Canadian Tire Centre.

Senators team scope: Coach Dave Cameron didn't name his starting goaltender but confirmed Craig Anderson will make the trip. Anderson left a 4-3 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues on March 1 with a lower-body injury and has missed the past three games. He took part in an optional skate Monday. Defenseman Mark Borowiecki confirmed he has a torn MCL that won't require surgery and will be out long term. The Senators have won two straight on the road and three of their past four. "I think our mentality hasn't changed in here," captain Erik Karlsson said. "We're going to do everything we can to win as many games as we can and take it day by day." Forward Zack Smith has goals in consecutive games. Forward Mark Stone has six assists in the past five games and nine points (two goals, seven assists) in the past seven.

Hurricanes team scope: Goaltender Cam Ward will start for Carolina. Ward has lost four of his past five starts, but made 19 saves to earn the win against Ottawa in the first game. Forward Brendan Woods, who made his NHL debut playing two games for Carolina last season, was recalled Sunday from Charlotte of the American Hockey League. Forwards Brock McGinn and Derek Ryan were reassigned to the Checkers. This is the Hurricanes' only stop home in a stretch of eight games. They begin a five-game road trip Thursday. "Our game has grown since the [NHL Trade Deadline]. Each game we've gotten quicker and faster, and we've moved the puck better," Staal told the Hurricanes website. Carolina led the League entering games Monday with a 53.8 percent faceoff win percentage and was eighth on the penalty kill at 83.0 percent. The Hurricanes haven't allowed a power-play goal in their past 10 chances since Feb. 25 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
