Season series: The San Jose Sharks won two of their three games against the Winnipeg Jets in 2014-15. San Jose forward Joe Pavelski had two goals and three assists. Forward Bryan Little had two goals and two assists for Winnipeg.

Jets team scope: Winnipeg did not practice after a 4-2 loss at the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday in the opener of a five-game road trip. It was their 12th loss in their past 13 games away from MTS Centre. Rookie goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is a possibility to start for the ninth time in the past 10 games. Winnipeg ranks 26th in the NHL on the penalty kill (77.3 percent) after allowing two power-play goals on five chances against Arizona. The Jets have been shorthanded a League-leading 141 times. "You can't take the penalties that we took. You just can't," coach Paul Maurice said after the loss in Arizona. Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec (knee) and center Mark Scheifele (concussion) are on the trip, but a timeline for each player's return to the lineup remains unclear.

Sharks team scope: San Jose has a League-worst 5-10-0 home record as it reaches the midpoint of a five-game homestand. Coach Peter DeBoer hasn't said whether Martin Jones or Alex Stalock will start in goal; Jones has started nine of the past 10 games, including a 4-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. The power play is 9-for-23 in the past six games and ranks fifth in the League (21.8 percent). One reason is the performance of Brent Burns, whose 16 power-play points are tops among NHL defensemen. "He's learning to put it all together," DeBoer told the San Jose Mercury News on Friday. "I think he's been exceptional for us these first (36) games."
