BLUES (23-13-4) at MAPLE LEAFS (14-15-7)

TV: CBC, CITY, FS-MW

Season series: Nazem Kadri scored twice and Garret Sparks made 27 saves for his second NHL victory in the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 victory at the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 5. Brad Boyes and PA Parenteau scored for the Maple Leafs, and Roman Polak had two assists. Vladimir Tarasenko scored for St. Louis.

Blues team scope: St. Louis is expected to activate forward Patrik Berglund off injured reserve. To make room for Berglund, who has been out all season because of a shoulder injury, the Blues assigned forward Jordan Caron to Chicago of the American Hockey League. St. Louis heads into its game at Air Canada Centre with what will likely be a different look up front. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said after a 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild Thursday the Blues simply aren't scoring enough on a consistent basis. "I think that's something we've got to have an honest look here in the next 24 hours and what we're doing offensively and see if we can get some more juice by possibly blowing some of this up," Hitchcock said. "We're not scoring, we're not scoring 5-on-5." The Blues are 22nd in the NHL averaging 2.45 goals per game after averaging 2.91 last season, fifth in the League.

Maple Leafs team scope: Goalie James Reimer practiced Friday, but Jonathan Bernier will be in goal against St. Louis. Reimer has been bothered by a nagging groin injury and won't dress against the Blues. Antoine Bibeau will be Bernier's backup. "It's one of those things where it's frustrating, but at the same time when it was still hanging around and I tried to push through it last time [in early December], the wrong thing happened," Reimer told The Toronto Sun. "So you want to be diligent and smart about it so that you can help the team long term. We're taking steps. We're making sure it is where it needs to be. We're close. We're going in the right direction." Center Byron Froese (lower body) skated before practice but won't play Saturday. Toronto has lost two straight against St. Louis at home while being outscored 11-4.
