[SurroundSound] Re: Question about hardware upsampling.......

I don't know what the chip in Philips player does exactly, but I once upsampled 44.1 KHz to 192 KHz in Sound Forge. When simply upsampling, I didn't notice any difference, but when I used antialiasing, then I noticed the difference. It sounded like improvement to me. But the thing is that I didn't expect it to sound significantly better, and I was a bit surprised.
 I am not an expert, but in my mind, I find antialiasing in sound similar to antialiasing computer graphics. It does look better, suppose it improves the sound also.
I could be very wrong.
BTW, I had some cheap universal player that upsampled CDs to 88.2 and 176 kHz, but could not hear the difference. Suppose it was plain upsampling.
