The Ottawa Sun reports Daniel Alfredsson isn't looking for a new home.
Though the Senators captain might be surrounded by doubters, he isn't thinking about being dealt to a contender at the NHL trade deadline as long as the club remains in the playoff hunt.
As the Sun reported Saturday, the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins will both consider Alfredsson, 40, as a possibility at the April 3 trade deadline if the Senators aren't in the race anymore.
"It's flattering if teams are interested, but for me the focus is here and what we're doing," said Alfredsson. "We want to keep this thing going. We're in the playoffs. If we would fall out of that race, maybe there would be more speculation but that's nothing I'm paying attention to.
"I don't see myself anywhere else. I understand there will be speculation because of my situation, but I can't control that."
Alfredsson said he hasn't given a move any thought. GM Bryan Murray would likely never shop Alfredsson around. Any decision on a trade would be up to him.
"As of now, 'no,' " said Alfredsson when asked if he would go elsewhere. "I don't think you never say never. Where we are in the playoff race, I hope we can continue and stay in here. That's definitely where my focus is. I'm not even thinking or worrying about anything else than this right now."
