{allcanada} Argos' Ray out indefinitely with knee injury

The Toronto Argonauts will be without quarterback Ricky Ray, who is sidelined indefinitely with an injury in his left knee, although he will not require surgery.

Argos general manager Jim Barker told sportsnet.ca Monday that Ray is "day to day."

Ray suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Argos' 31-10 loss to Montreal on Sunday when teammate Jeff Keeping rolled into it. Ray tried to regain his feet, but then couldn't and left the field of play and subsequently went into the Argos' locker room.

Backup Jarious Jackson replaced him and finished off the game. He is slated to start for the Argos this Saturday in Winnipeg. Jackson was signed as a free agent in the off-season

The Argos acquired Ray in a major off-season deal with Edmonton.

He leads all starting quarterbacks in the Canadian Football League's with a 68.4 completion percentage and is third overall in passing yardage with 3,371.

The Argos are alone in second in the East with a 6-6 record.
