The Los Angeles-set Canadian soap "The L.A. Complex" just got even more Canadian: Alan Thicke is joining the cast for a four-episode arc during the latter half of its debut season.

The first six episodes of the ultra-dramatic show (think "Melrose Place" and all its steamy, pulpy goodness) debuted to great reviews in its home country, and will air in the U.S. on The CW beginning April 24. The show was so successful that MuchMusic, its Canadian home, ordered 13 additional episodes for Season 1.

Thicke's role is secretive, says The Hollywood Reporter, and the only thing we know about his character is that he'll be named Donald.

The actor is part of a running joke on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," which frequently calls in the actor to help poke fun at one of the characters' Canadian heritage.
