Nathan MacKinnon keeps making a name for himself in junior hockey and he's not even NHL draft eligible for another two years.
The Halifax native, who could go as high as first overall in the 2013 draft, scored five goals on Saturday in the Mooseheads' 6-4 victory over the Quebec Remparts.
The total is just one shy of the CHL's single-game record for most goals by a rookie (six), set by Tony Tanti and Colin Miller in 1981 and 1988.
"Once he scored the first one, he became unstoppable," Halifax Mooseheads coach Dominique Ducharme told reporters after the game. "That was a great performance that only great players can have."
In 29 games this season, MacKinnon has 19 goals and 49 points and is sixth in league scoring.
