MONTREAL -- Montreal Impact forward Mignane Diouf is facing a charge of theft after being arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
An airport spokesman says the 22-year-old rookie was arrested Sunday after the manager of an electronics store reported that a pair of $600 headphones had gone missing.
Patrick Hogan says officers allegedly identified Diouf after watching the security tape from the airport boutique.
Hogan says police approached Diouf at a gate, where the Senegalese citizen was waiting for his flight with his Impact teammates.
He says Diouf offered to pay for the headphones, but the store's manager was advised by his corporate headquarters to press charges.
Hogan says Diouf spent the night in jail before he was released on US$6,000 bond.
The team says it has hired a lawyer to represent Diouf and that it will not comment until further notice.
