EDMONTON -- Travis Ewanyk had a hat trick but it was Dylan Wruck with the key goal for the Oil Kings.
Wruck's second of the game at 4:59 overtime pushed Edmonton past the Prince George Cougars 8-7 in Western Hockey League play Monday.
Trailing 6-3 entering the third period, the Oil Kings (5-2-0) got goals from Mike Piluso, Wruck and two from Ewanyk in just over five minutes to take a 7-6 lead at the 7:29 mark.
Sena Acolatse brought the Cougars (3-4-1) back to even terms with an unassisted goal at 11:48 before Wruck won it for Edmonton in overtime.
Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Swift Current 1, Kootenay 0 (SO); Prince Albert 5, Chilliwack 2; Vancouver 5, Kamloops 4; and Tri-City 6, Moose Jaw 3.
At Edmonton, Ewanyk and Klarc Wilson scored in the first for the Oilers. Michael St. Croix had the goal in the second and also added three assists.
Brett Connolly and Charles Inglis each had two goals for Prince George, while Nick Buonassisi and Martin Marincin also scored. James Dobrowolski added three assists.
Cam Lanigan started for Edmonton and gave up six goals on 27 shots. Backup Laurent Brossoit stopped 12 of 13 shots in relief.
James Priestner made 33 saves on 41 shots for Prince George.
Broncos 1, Ice 0 (SO)
At Swift Current, Sask., Cody Eakin and Justin Dowling each scored in the shootout to lift the Broncos over Kootenay.
Goalie Mark Friesen made 28 saves for the shutout as the Broncos improve their record to 3-6-0.
Todd Mathews made 31 saves through regulation and overtime for the Ice (3-2-0).
Max Reinhart and Kevin King both failed to score on their shootout attempts.

Raiders 5, Bruins 2
At Chilliwack, B.C., Austin Connor's goal at 10:04 of the third period capped Prince Albert's comeback against the Bruins.
For the Raiders (4-4-1), it was the team's first victory of a six-game road trip following two consecutive losses.
Prince Albert's Brandon Herrod scored his eighth goal of the season and added an assist, while Igor Revenko and Ryan Button had two helpers each. Mark McNeill extended his point streak to eight games with an empty-netter.
Raiders netminder Eric Williams made 28 saves for his second win of the season. His counterpart, Braden Gamble turned away 30 shots for the Bruins.

Giants 5, Blazers 4
At Kamloops, B.C., Dalton Sward and James Henry each scored and added an assist as Vancouver Giants downed the Blazers.
Matt Bellerive, Brendan Gallagher and Luke Fenske also scored for the Giants (5-3-1).
Colin Smith, with two, Linden Saip and Austin Madaisky replied for the Blazers (3-4-1), who had won 5-4 in overtime in Vancouver on Friday. Smith's second goal came with 3.2 seconds left in the third period.
Kamloops goaltender Jeff Bosch stopped 18 of 22 shots, with Jon Groenheyde coming on to turn aside 15 of 16.

Americans 6, Warriors 3
At Moose Jaw, Sask., Connor Rankin's second power-play goal of the night was the difference as Tri-City beat beat the Warriors.
The Americans finished 3-for-4 on the power play and scored another goal on a delayed penalty call to improve their record to 7-2-1.
The Americans took a 3-1 lead before Michal Hlinka and Quinton Howden tied the game for the Warriors (2-7-0). Nathan MacMaster had the other Warrior goal.
Jordan Messier, Adam Hughesman, Patrick Holland and Mike Brown all scored for the Americans. Drydn Dow and Tyler Schmidt each added two assists.
Drew Owsley made 33 saves for the Americans.
