The Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts have gotten a jump on Wednesday's CFL trade deadline.
The Eskimos have sent veteran kicker Noel Prefontaine back to the Toronto Argonauts for non-import defensive lineman Etienne Legare and negotiation rights to import defensive back Damaso Munoz
Prefontaine spent 10 years with the Argonauts before being dealt to the Eskimos in 2008.
"It's a pleasure to be back in the place where my career started and I'm looking forward to continuing to build the strong relationships I have with many of the coaches, players and fans in Toronto," Prefontaine said in a statement released by the team.
The Argos were need of a punter because Jamie Boreham injured his hamstring during the Argonauts victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday.
Three-year CFL veteran Derek Schiavone while handle both punting and placekicking duties for the Eskimos.
Prefontaine is averaging 43.1 yards per punt this season, while Boreham was averaging 40.4 yards per punt.
Legare was the second overall selection in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft, and is expected to back up Adam Braidwood.
