Captain Nicolas Chouinard decided to lead by example on Friday night.
Chouinard scored five times as the Montreal Junior downed the Halifax Mooseheads 6-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
The first four goals of Chouinard's outburst came in the opening period. Chouinard also scored the only goal of the second at the 12:55 mark with help from Louis Leblanc and Philippe Lefebvre.
Mooseheads goaltender Mathiey Corbeil-Theriault was pulled after Chouinard's fifth goal, having made eight saves on 13 shots.
Chouindard's seven goals are the most on the Junior so far this season. The scrappy 20-year-old winger also leads Montreal in penalty minutes with 16.
In five seasons with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the Junior Chouinard has 63 goals and 149 points in 208 games.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was Saint John 6 Moncton 2, Lewiston 7 Victoriaville 2, Quebec 3 Baie-Comeau 2 (SO), Acadie-Bathurst 5 Gatineau 2, Rimouski 6 Shawinigan 3, P.E.I. 5 Rouyn-Noranda 1 and Val-d'Or 3 Cape Breton 2 (SO).
At Halifax, Philippe Lefebvre had the other goal for Montreal (6-1-2) and assisted on three of Chouinard's markers.
Charles Bety had a pair of goals for Halifax (2-7-1), while Carl Gelinas chipped in as well.

Sea Dogs 6 Wildcats 2
At Saint John, N.B., Tomas Jurco struck twice as the Sea Dogs dropped their provincial rivals.
Nathan Beaulieu opened the scoring for Saint John (6-2-1) and added two assists. Stanislav Galiev and Steven Anthony also tallied, while Simon Despres rounded out scoring with a short-handed goal.
Daniel Pettersson and Marek Hrivik replied for Moncton (6-3-2).

Maineiacs 7 Tigres 2
At Lewiston, Maine, Olivier Dame-Malka had back-to-back goals, including the winner, as the Maineiacs trounced Victoriaville.
Jess Tanguy scored and added two assists for Lewiston (5-4-2), while Etienne Brodeur, Samuel Henley and Samuel Carrier chipped in as well. Antoine Houde-Caron had a short-handed goal.
Phillip Danault had a short-handed goal for the Tigres (4-5-1), while Vincent Marcoux scored on the power play.

Remparts 3 Drakkar 2 (SO)
At Quebec, Tomas Filippi and Ryan Bourque were the shootout heroes as the Remparts edged Baie-Comeau.
Mirko Hoefflin and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault scored in regulation for Quebec (8-0-1).
Jean-Philippe Caron and Kevin Fiset's goals forced extra time for the Drakkar (1-7-2).

Titan 5 Olympiques 2
At Gatineau, Que., Gabriel Levesque scored twice and had an assist as Acadie-Bathurst handled the Olympiques.
Olivier Hotte, Jeremie Malouin and Zach O'Brien had singles for the Titan (7-3-0), who never looked back after a 3-0 lead.
Tye McGinn and Olivier Croteau answered for Gatineau (4-5-2).

Oceanic 6 Cataractes 3
At Rimouski, Que., Jarrad Struthers had a short-handed goal as the Oceanic sunk the Cataractes.
Patrick Delisle-Houde, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc and Alexandre Mallet all scored with the man advantage for Rimouski (7-4-0), while Charles-Antoine Roy had an even-strength goal. Jakub Culek added some insurance with an empty netter.
Yannick Veilleux, Benjamin Casavant and Maximilien Le Sieur found the back of the net for Shawinigan (5-4-1).

Rocket 5 Huskies 1
At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Matthew Hobbs had the eventual winner as P.E.I. bested the Huskies.
Victor Provencher, Josh Currie, Marc-Andre Levesque and Ben Duffy rounded out the offence for the Rocket (5-5-0).
Robbie DeFulviis was the lone scorer for Rouyn-Noranda (3-6-0).

Foreurs 3 Screaming Eagles 2 (SO)
At Val-d'Or, Que., Jonathan Hazen and Jean-Francois Leblanc scored in the shootout as the Foreurs slipped by Cape Breton.
Olivier Archambault and Alexandre Touchette tallied in regulation for Val-d'Or (6-3-1).
Morgan Ellis and Pierre-Antoine Dion were the attack for the Screaming Eagles (3-7-1).
