Season series: Tyler Bozak scored in the third period, Peter Holland scored in the shootout and James Reimer made 21 saves when the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Nashville Predators, 2-1 on Nov. 12. Pekka Rinne made 22 saves and defenseman Shea Weber scored for Nashville.
Predators team scope: Nashville has earned a point in a franchise-record eight straight road games following a 2-1 shootout win against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday (6-0-2). The Predators continue a three-game road trip in Toronto which concludes against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. Forward Craig Smith missed an empty net in overtime before scoring the only goal in the shootout. "It was good to get a chance at it quick again and kind of erase it. It's kind of funny now, but it wasn't funny at the time," Smith told the Tennessean after the game Monday. Nashville seeks consecutive wins for the first time since winning four straight from Jan. 21-27. The Predators are 3-0-3 in their past six games. Goalie Carter Hutton could start after Rinne made 28 saves on Monday.
Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto acquired forward Raffi Torres and two future draft picks from the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Roman Polak and forward Nick Spaling on Monday, and acquired forward Colin Smith and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft for forward Shawn Matthias. Torres was reassigned to San Jose of the American Hockey League and general manager Lou Lamoriello said Smith would be assigned to Toronto's AHL affiliate. Lamoriello said defenseman Stuart Percy, who has played in nine NHL games all last season, and forward Brendan Leipsic, who has one goal in one game with the Maple Leafs this season, will be recalled from the Marlies. Each is likely to be in the lineup. "There's no question with him, given the opportunity, we've seen his development coming," Lamoriello said of Leipsic. "He made the most of a timing situation when he was called up and then came right back, went to the minors and didn't miss a beat."
