Shane Chisholm grateful for 'huge honour'
Shane Chisholm has the write stuff.
The Sault Ste. Marie native, who won a pair of Canadian Country Music Awards in September, is featured in the Oct. 4 edition of Country Weekly magazine.
The Korah collegiate graduate is one of five Canadian musicians, including Crystal Shawanda, The Higgins and Victoria Banks, profiled in an article, North of the Border.
"I've never been in this magazine before," said Chisholm in an e-mail."I don't think any of the artists have. It's very rare that they feature Canadians so it's a huge honour. It's amazing exposure throughout the U.S. and Canada."
The American tabloid has covered the country music scene since 1994.
Shawanda, from Wikwemikong First Nation, graduated from Korah in 1997. She returned to perform at the west-end school in December.
After attending the CCMAs in Edmonton, Chisholm heads to the Western Canadian Music Awards in Kelowna, B.C., on Oct. 24.
He's nominated for country recording of the year. Other nominees for the award include Doc Walker and Shane Yellowbird.
