"The Altruists," Netflix's upcoming series about the rise and fall of FTX, has added six recurring cast members.
The new additions are: Hudson Williams ("Heated Rivalry") as Duncan Rheingans‑Yoo, Jennifer Grey ("Dirty Dancing," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off") as Sarah Fisher Ellison, Terry Chen ("Almost Famous," "House of Cards") as CZ, Elizabeth Adams ("Wayward") as Hannah, Hannah Galway ("The Institute," "Billy the Kid") as Lucy, and William Mapother ("Lost," "Another Earth") as Dr. Lerner.
The limited series was first reported to be in the works back in May 2025, with Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle set for the lead roles of Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried. It is inspired by New York Magazine reporting on FTX.
The official logline for the show states, "The story of Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye – before they were accused of stealing $8 billion and became Gen Z's own Bonnie & Clyde."
Other previously announced series regulars include Eugene Young, Madison Hu, Karan Soni, Matt Rife Alex Lawther, and Naomi Okada. Aside from the new additions, the recurring cast consists of Maddie Hasson, Marianna Phung, Paul Reiser, and Robin Weigert.
Netflix has ordered eight episodes of "The Altruists." The series was shot over the summer and into the fall of last year. Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. James Ponsoldt executive produces and directed the first episode. Jessie Dicovitsky and Vinnie Malhotra executive produce for Higher Ground Productions along with Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, Tonia Davis, Lauren Morelli, and Garner.
