Felix Auger-Aliassime is the winningest Canadian in men's singles tennis history.

The Montreal native won the Open Occitanie with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over France's Adrian Mannarino on Sunday in Montpellier.

It marked his ninth career ATP Tour championship, breaking a tie with Milos Raonic for most singles titles by a Canadian.

Daniel Nestor won 91 doubles titles in his career.

Auger-Aliassime scored five straight points to take the third set tiebreak and go up 5-4 before winning the next two points on return. He topped Mannarino on the strength of his serve, firing 13 aces to just one double fault.

The 25-year-old also won 87 per cent of points on first serve and didn't face a single break point through two sets.

Overall, Auger-Aliassime won 68 points to Mannarino's 53 in the victory.

Mannarino reached a career-high ranking of No. 17 early in 2024 before a slump in form saw him drop out of the top 100. He was ranked 70th heading into this tournament.

The top seed in the tournament, Auger-Aliassime defeated France's Titouan Droguet 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 in the semifinals on Saturday.
