Canadian defenceman Josh Morrissey left for the dressing early in the second period against Czechia and did not return.
It's not clear what forced the Calgary native to leave the game. He played 13 shifts for 7:10 before exiting.
He began the game on a pairing with Colton Parayko. Canada finished the game with six defencemen: Cale Makar, Devon Toews, Shea Theodore, Colton Parayko, Thomas Harley, and Drew Doughty.
Morrissey, 30, has 10 goals and 32 assists over 56 games for the Winnipeg Jets this season.
He played in three games for Canada's during last year's 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, but wasn't able to record a point. He missed the championship game due to an illness.
"Representing Canada at the highest level is a dream come true. To go to the Olympic Games ... it's so much bigger than just hockey," Morrissey said in an interview with TSN's Danielle Bain in January.
"There's a hunger level for me to obviously have a great tournament and push to win a gold medal, and hope to be a part of that celebration that I wasn't able to be a part of last year," he said of missing the end of the 4 Nations.
Philadelphia Flyers' Travis Sanheim was a healthy scratch for today's game.
Canada entered the third period up 3-0 on Czechia with goals from Macklin Celebrini, Mark Stone, and Bo Horvat. Nathan MacKinnon and Nick Suzuki scored in the final period as Canada won 5-0.
