Kyle Turris brought the physicality and the scoring touch for the Ottawa Senators Saturday while putting away the 5-4 game-winner against the New York Rangers in yet another 2017 Stanley Cup playoff matchup decided by overtime.
Turris led all forwards with 24:58 of ice time, and over the course of the matchup also posted a game-high of nine hits.
Senators coach Guy Boucher spoke highly of Turris' elevated performance.
"I know it's Kentucky Derby day. I guess that was our horse tonight," Boucher told reporters postgame. "Definitely somebody who came out with the max character and the pushback we can expect from him. It was very inspiring."
The goal was Turris' third of the postseason and his second in as many games. It was also the third game-winner of his career in the Stanley Cup Playoffs - all have come in overtime.
Ottawa now leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 and will look to advance to the next round in Tuesday's Game 6 at Madison Square Garden.
