Dominique Ducharme will return to coach Canada at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Ducharme helped Canada reach the gold-medal game at the 2017 WJC. Canada lost to the United States 5-4 in a shootout. The silver medal came after Canada finished sixth at the 2016 WJC.
Also returning are assistant coaches Tim Hunter and Kris Knoblauch.
"This is a very unique opportunity to return an entire coaching staff that came within a shot of winning gold last year," Scott Salmond, Hockey Canada's vice president of hockey operations and national teams, told the Hockey Canada website. "The Program of Excellence Policy Committee unanimously agreed that it was in the best interest of the program to keep this coaching staff together and that their experience will provide us the best opportunity of winning gold in 2018."
The 2018 WJC will be held in Buffalo, with games played at Key Bank Center and HarborCenter. The U.S. and Canada also will play a preliminary-round game outdoors at New Era Field, home of the Buffalo Bills.
