LIGHTNING (29-19-4) at CANADIENS (26-24-4)
TV: SUN, SN, NHL.TV
Season series: Mike Condon made 36 saves and Alex Galchenyuk, Tomas Plekanec and Dale Weise each scored in regulation when the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in a shootout on Dec. 28. Ryan Callahan, Nikita Kucherov and Jason Garrison scored for the Lightning; Ben Bishop made 31 saves.
Lightning team scope: Tampa Bay will be without defenseman Jason Garrison when it concludes a two-game road trip with a visit to Bell Centre on Tuesday following a 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday. Garrison sustained a lower-body injury in the first period and did not return. "Garrison will be out for tomorrow," coach Jon Cooper told Fox Sports Sun after the game. "That's a tough one too, because he is a big minute-munching defenseman for us. Big body, big size. It was tough when we lost him." The Lightning have not lost back-to-back games in regulation since Nov. 27-28, 2015, a span of 29 games. "This has to be a page turner here because now we've got Montreal who has won a couple here and feeling good about themselves and we're not," Cooper said. "You're not always encouraged about playing back-to-backs but I'm glad we get to jump right back at it [Tuesday] night."
Canadiens team scope: Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu was a healthy scratch the past two games, but could return to the lineup Tuesday. "We haven't made our final decision yet regarding [Tuesday's] game, but when you are out of the lineup it means somebody is going to take your job for a short term," coach Michel Therrien told the Canadiens website. "But you know, eventually the player will get back in. I like to see the positive in it and (Mark) Barberio did a decent job for us." Montreal has won two straight games for the first time in more than two months and looks for their first three-game winning streak since winning four straight from Nov. 20-27. "We know Tampa pretty well, we've played them quite a bit so they are pretty skilled forwards and have good 'D' and are also fast," forward Sven Andrighetto said. "We know how to play against these guys and it is going to be a good matchup," Therrien said. Goalie Ben Scrivens is expected to make his third straight start Tuesday.
