CBC has renewed half-hour comedy Schitt's Creek for a third season for premiere in winter 2017.

It's too early for Pop, which airs the series in the U.S., to make a renewal decision as Season 2 has yet to premiere (it debuts next month), but Pop brass have said they love the show.

Schitt's Creek centers around a wealthy family that suddenly finds itself broke and forced to live in Schitt's Creek, a small, depressing town they once bought as a joke. Eugene and Daniel Levy co-created the single camera comedy, and also star alongside Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy and Chris Elliott.

In addition, CBC has picked up a sixth season of comedy Mr. D, a fourth season of This Hour Has 22 Minutes and a 14th season of Rick Mercer report, all for premiere in the fall.
