GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. - Alberta's Chelsea Carey remained the only team without a loss at the Canadian women's curling championship after a 9-8 win over Northern Ontario's Krista McCarville on Monday.

The Calgary team scored three points in the third and stole another trio in the fourth to take a 6-2 lead, but Northern Ontario still forced the Alberta skip to throw her last stone for the win.

The host province was 4-0 with a game to play at night against Prince Edward Island. McCarville's Thunder Bay rink dropped to 3-1.

Saskatchewan Jolene Campbell and Nova Scotia's Jill Brothers both improved to 2-2 to sit tied with Quebec's Marie-France Larouche.

Campbell's 7-3 victory over New Brunswick dropped Sylvie Robichaud's team to 1-3 alongside B.C.'s Karla Thompson and Stacie Curtis of Newfoundland and Labrador.

B.C. fell 7-4 to Saskatchewan. Newfoundland earned their first win with a 10-6 victory over Quebec.

P.E.I.'s Suzane Birt and Manitoba's Kerri Einarson with 2-1. Defending champion Jennifer Jones and Ontario's Jenn Hanna were 1-2 with games to play at night.
